All of my C25K runs were run by doing laps around a local park, so today’s challenge was to run a new route! I researched and ran the local “Park Run” course (I registered for Park Run as well, so hope to participate when it starts up again post COVID-19). It went OK but the final kilometre was tough. I may have picked up a little niggle as well with some discomfort in my upper left glute 😬. I hope it settles down. Anyone else run today? How did it go? Happy running!
2nd Consolidation Run: All of my C25K runs were... - Couch to 5K
2nd Consolidation Run
Well done for getting through your run today. Hope that discomfort clears quickly for you. I was out for my penultimate run of C25K earlier. Managed to cover 4.2k again which I'm happy with for now. Aiming to graduate later in the week. Will probably have a couple of days rest first.🤞🤞
Nice one! I reckon that you & I run a very similar pace, though my pace seems to have slowed a bit since graduation, I wondering if that and the sore glute might be down to my new shoes? Or am I just over thinking it (as usual 🤣). Good luck for your graduation run! Let me know how it goes!
Good for you. I've never done a parkrun, but have made a resolution to sign up and do the first one back.
I ran a 5k today to see if I could get a new PB - missed it by 3 seconds. Never mind, it was a good run.
Unlucky on the PB!
This was my second ever 5k, and I was about 20 seconds slower tonight.
Yes, I too am looking forward to the park run. I’ve no idea when it’s gonna start up again, but they are promoting something called “(not) park run” at the moment, where you can submit a 5k time each week, so I reckon I’ll have a go a that.
Happy running!
I've started to put my times into the Not-ParkRun and once a week you get a list of results like a proper actual ParkRun so you still feel you are part of it. I can't wait for them to start up again so I can show off my new amazing very slow jogging talent
Me too. I read that the average (Not) Park Run time last week was about 5k in 34 minutes, so I'm not too far behind the average at my 37 minutes.
Park Run sounds like a nice thing to do. Runners seem to be very supportive of fellow runners.
Happy Running👍
That's pretty good, I'm at just over 41 minutes, only a minute or two faster than when I walked the Parkrun last July. Hoping consolidation will speed me up a little!
Cool. I was running yesterday, and there was a young woman power walking, I was only just a tiny bit faster than her 😂.
Other runners were whizzing past me - everyone seems so supportive though, it's nice.
The fact that we are running at all is the most important thing 👍
Keep up the good work!
The Parkrun volunteers are great, helpful and encouraging. There is no judgment and everyone seems to enjoy it. I volunteered to Marshall on New Years Day and the atmosphere was great, with a record number of runners, some from far flung clubs.
Should be out today but knee sore again so giving extra rest... Or am I delaying graduation ha! Last run was 4K in 30 mins. 2 runs left. 😱
Well done for getting out there, Buzzybeeze. Hope the injury clears quickly. Make sure you include the stretches. Take care. 👍👏
I went out today, didn’t get a pb, but it was a newish route, over rough terrain, well rough for me as I like a nice path run 🏃🏻♀️ this is wibbly wobbly farm track, rough grass and the odd nice bit of path.
Today’s run went much better than Sunday’s run 👍🏃🏻♀️
Sounds like a challenging route!
I prefer a nice path too. My ankles sprain quite easily - a legacy from playing basketball when I was younger, soI don't like to take too many risks in that respect. No problems so far 🤞.
Having said that, I'm thinking of a new route which includes a stretch along a local canal, and some of that is a bit uneven. Wish me luck!
Happy running!
