It occurs to me that I may be past my sell by date on this Forum. Are we still supposed to be posting about our consolidation runs after this many? I don’t know but I’m going to keep going up to 15 or 20 and then maybe have a go at the 10K, though the distance increases on those scare me. The truth is I’m still dealing with running for 30 mins.
Today’s run was a bit of a struggle as I’ve been away working this week and didn’t have time to run until this morning. I am now nailing the toxic 10 minutes without too much trouble but today I got to 15 minutes and really felt in my legs that I hadn’t run for best part of 4 days. Although my current route is mainly downhill, there are one or two inclines here and there and I was glad to get to 20 mins without feeling like packing it in.
The last 10 mins were arduous today but my new found inner steel (along with REM) kept me going. I felt the streets of London were a little busier today, even though my route is mainly back streets. If I decide to start the 10K I’ll have to run a lot of it over Hampstead Health and reward myself with the last 15 minutes downhill.
Onwards and upwards. Everybody Hurts felt really apt this morning!

I think you should keep posting, it helps with the motivation! I've got my first post-C25K run tonight, 5kms again. Is that what Consolidation runs are?
That’s exactly what I’m doing too, learning about my fitness and my body’s reaction to time off or 4 runs a week. I know I find running up inclines really difficult. The new downhill route suits me far better but when the 10K starts, I won’t be able to avoid running up inclines. I was tired again after 30 minutes today. I guess I keep doing it until it feels comfortable before moving on.My previous run on Sunday was probably my most comfortable one. The 4 times in 8 days running really improved my fitness.
I struggle with inclines, let alone actual hills. My legs seem to really hate them. Maybe once I shift a bit more weight it’ll be less exhausting. At least I’m not bailing before 10 minutes anymore.
