Well guys. Wow! I did my first run. I'm so unbelievably unfit!! But I pushed and I did it. Went out at 7.15pm was -1° was absolutely baltic but obviousl, I warmed up quickly. Back out Saturday morning. And then Monday afternoon as I won't manage before work. Thought I might be sick onve I stopped moving when I got back home with the heat of my house so heating was all turned off. But how fab was that!! Super proud of myself getting out and doing it. Went a lot further than I thought I would! The app I got to map my run didn't work as I didn't realise I had power saving on my phone so 2nd run I'll get it off and see how far I've actually gone. Can't believe I actually went out and did the walk run walk run ect. So proud of myself. I hurt but I've done no exercise in a while so that's to be expected. Hope everyone else starting is feeling as proud of themselves as I am. I have 0 self confidence so this has boosted me!!

Great job. It’s a very hard run as starting it you have no idea how fast to run. You’re right to be proud, we are proud of you too. Dunno how much it boosted you from 0 self confidence, but it’ll get better and better as you progress. Don’t worry about distance yet, although you may be aiming for a distance eventually, and there’s one in the title, this is about becoming a runner and so distance here is irrelevant... it’s about getting to that 30 minutes, very few of us run 5k in 30 in the 9 weeks, so there’s no benefit to adding pressure to it. Your fitness will rise fast, in the summer I only had to bend over to pick laundry up and I was sweating, now I can run 5k nice and slow and not sweat some days, which I never thought possible. You’ve made a great start... enjoy the next one.

Well done you for getting out there, and in that temperature. Stick to the plan, it's brilliant. It builds your stamina and strength up slowly and steadily, and it's amazing how quickly the weeks fly by.

People often scare themselves by looking ahead at future runs...I recommend that you don't, simply take each run as it comes and enjoy it - beware, running becomes addictive 😀. Happy running 🌻

Well done you!! Great feeling when you achieve something that you thought was beyond reach and in such inclement weather. You’re a warrior, keep going!

Only time I could get out was then due to family. But was grest, no people about so didn't bump into anyone or dog walkers which was good. Went out a walk in the day to map put where I would go. Ended up going much further and found new streets where I live

That is the worst one done. Okay, you might THINK some of the others are tough, but that's just tough running. You just beat the hardest thing of all, your own disbelief.

Now you know you can do it.

Really proud of you.

Well done!! You even went out when it’s dark and chilly. So good one you!! Keep it up and you will soon start to feel amazing. I always feel tired but great after a run - like I’ve achieved something really good. Don’t push yourself to hard and cause an injury mind. Just listen to your body. 👍😎

wonderful, well done trust us all when we say it gets better and you will be running longer in a few weeks, I still cant believe I'm running 28 mins (w8)...and I am overweight (still working on that) and was very unfit ...

I'm overweight also, well done you being able to run for so long, at this point I genuinely cannot see myself doing that. I have a goal to lose 40lbs by my birthday on October and want to be a lot fitter. I have 2 kids and a partner who works 2 hours away every day so this and at home work outs seem to be the best way to get fit with little time to do so. Hope you enjoy your last week on c25k

When I started week 1 I thought there is no way I can do this , but spending half an hour every other day following the app , with the odd exception of a couple of runs I had to 're run I am now on week 8 , this morning I took a drive to southend on sea for a run along the seafront ,a great view instead of endless roads and houses.

Keep going mo1989 in a few weeks you will be telling others your a runner...

Bravo! And thank you for sharing your excitement, always a nice thing to read to start the day.

Be cautious about using tracking during the programme. We see so many folk letting it undermine them when it is all about learning the skill of continuous running (otherwise known as 'just not stopping')... the distances can come later, despite what the name of the programme implies. But it clearly hasn't undermined you on this occasion!

Running in the cold is surprisingly brilliant isn't it? I always think if you start out just a bit on the chilly side, you won't overheat later in the session. It's good to wear things you can easily strip off and the bits that need to be warm are head, ears, neck, hands. Lots of us become very keen on buffs or similar as they are multifunctional and can be whipped off and stuffed in a pocket easily.
