So I've just got back from W1R1. I am super un-fit and very overweight at the moment but I've started!
I had to stop at the start of the 2nd to last run, my legs were just like jelly and I really had nothing left. I slowly walked home.
I figure I am just going to keep repeating day 1 until I can complete it properly. I've read posts that suggest slowing the run down (although I was already pretty slow).
I am just proud that I actually went out in public and ran at all. I felt pretty awful as I made the slow walk home but having got back, and rested a little I actually feel great and quite revitalized.

Be proud. You went out there and completed the full run 1 SO WHAT you didn't run it all but I bet you manage it next run and you went further than sitting on the couch. Good luck. You can do it.
Well done for getting out there! Week 1 is definitely the hardest week, just getting off that couch. Now you have started you will be amazed by what you can achieve. Stick to the program and check back here on the forums for encouragement and support. We have all been where you are now and if we can do it, so can you!
Fantastic news! You are off the mark now! Remember that every journey starts with a small step, so make sure you don't rush it.
I would never have believed that I could run for 30 minutes. This is the first time I have started to take running seriously ever. In all my 57 years I was wheezing like a steam engine when I had to run for a bus.
Now look at me! I have graduated just a couple of hours ago, have lost weight in the process and gained masses of self belief.
Stick with it, it is so worth it! And if you ever find that you're struggling just share that here. Your fellow runners are absolutely amazing and will encourage you every step of the way!
Well done andy and keep going, c25k is amazing and so is everyone on here so be proud of yourself for taking a massive step, that feeling of jelly legs in the first runs doesn't last i promise ☺
well done Andy you've made a start.. just keep at it, you'll surprise yourself. I was surprised how keen I am to get out and run and I'm only on Week 3 Run 1, did that tonight. It grows on you really it does!
Welcome on board Andy. You have certainly picked a great place to come and find inspiration. I started week 3 today (so a relative newbie) and have been stunned from day 1 how many people will respond to any post you make.
Don't worry about not finishing, you didn't put the weight on overnight so don't expect it to go quickly either. Sadly it is hard work, but you have already experienced the "feeling good" effect when you finished. What I find is, that in turn will mean you don't want to eat the same as you did, will choose less and more healthily. That is turn will help with the weight loss and the run will become easier (eventually). I've been fighting with my weight for 20 years, I'm 50 this year, 6'4" and dropped below 21 stone for the first time in a long time this week. Being part of this group I am more sure than ever I will succeed and you can too
Good luck, keep posting and we will all keep you going.
Well done Andy, you are off the couch and outside. you will do well. It took me a while to reach week 1 and then a lot of effort to actually do week one. But I did it and so can you. I did find that starting slower was the best. Easy and steadily got me there.
Well done! You've started! And that has to be the hardest run. Don't worry about how slow you are to start off with. There were times when I thought I could walk faster than I could run The fact is you are out there and doing it. Enjoy the feeling and keep at it
Fantastic - well done!! I totally know what you mean about feeling proud that you went out in public and ran at all. I was exactly the same, I actually cried a bit after I'd finished Wk1 Run 1, as I'd surprised myself going to the park to do it. 6 months on from starting C25K and I'm doing my first 10K on Sunday. I wish you all the best and seriously if you're struggling just sloooooooow down! You'll get there - good luck with it!
