Blood test results..

Hi everyone, just a quick post to apologise and explain why I haven't been on here for a while... I've been very poorly and had some blood tests done, I got the results yesterday and I have anemia :( been very sick, light headed and exhausted.

Doctor has put me on folic acid tablets and given me a list of foods that are rich in vitamin B12 and iron.

So yeah just wanted to let you all know, I can't even walk the stairs without feeling exhausted and sick at the moment but hopefully I'm now on the road to recovery.

Ps: I cried when I found out, something else to add to the list of what's wrong! :(

Sorry to hear that, Kayla. Hopefully, now that you have the results of blood tests etc, you can now start on your road to recovery. Fingers crossed for you, Kayla. Good luck :)

I know the anaemia thing. I am On iron tablets myself. It floors you for a while but it's one that can be rectified. Good luck and speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear that, Kayla. :-( That is bad news but now you know what is wrong, hopefully they're figuring out why it's happened, and you'll soon be making a fast recovery and back running again! :-)

Try not to feel despondent; you're always welcome on here with us even if you're not yet able to run! The Injury Couch is right there ---> and you're welcome on it to join us here for banter and general cheeriuppiness! :-)

I'd been wondering where you'd got to; nice to see you back! :-)

*hugs* Thanks Miles, yeah sorry I disappeared for a while I haven't been on my PC for ages just not felt up to it really. I did do the aqua aerobics last week which was enjoyable but was so knackered afterwards just went home and bed haha.

Thanks for your kind comment, just walking up the stairs is bad at the moment I feel so sluggish and light headed but hopefully that will all start to improve.

Hope you're doing well and still enjoying your runs!! :)

Susan's top tip: Beetroot and spinach smoothies. Honest - they are yummy! Apple juice, a good handful of fresh spinach, a cooked beetroot from those vacpacked packets and whizz up in a liquidizer. Not only is it jam packed full of iron, it keeps your bowel in tip top order too. Win win! Also Mackesons stout. But not if you're driving :)

in reply touseitorloseit

Thanks very much for the advice :) haha yes I may avoid the stout as I've started my driving lessons so I am driving a lot at the moment haha but I will definitely give the other stuff a try, thank you! :)

My daughter has this blender-like thing called a Nutribullet and she makes all sorts of health drinks with it from raw kale, silver beet and bizarre fruit and veg including beetroot which I hate usually, but which is delicious in a Nutribullet drink. Might be one way of getting the iron into you?

in reply toturnturtle

Thanks for the advice I will have to look it up, I have a juice/smoothie book that has lots of healthy ideas in it. Never tried them as I have no blender haha but maybe I should give it a go!

Hopefully you will start to feel a bit more energised soon. Poor you, but at least you know now and can take steps to eat lots of iron rich food to keep you healthy.

in reply tolizziebeth57

Yeah I have a list of good foods to try now and tablets. Thanks for your comment! :)
