… still running besides rowing….

Just a quick “holding-myself-to-account” post and reaffirming (to myself) that

- I’m still running (pic from yesterday’s morning misty run)

- my NRC plan (5k plan) is this week expanding beyond 5k. Long run this week will be 6.4k and I’m really looking forward to the longer distance-runs again

- my plan was to get to 10k again by end of year, but looking at the length of the NRC plan and how I usually follow these, I might just not quite get there this year (I run 2-3 runs per week, but I run every run, so a NRC week takes me 2-3 real weeks)

- but I gather running only twice per week (or once this week) is ok. I now indoor-row almost daily. So I feel at peace with that.

- my new goal is to reach a point where I row at least one 10k per week and I run at least one 10k per week. Last year I reached running a weekly 10k, this year I reached rowing a weekly 10k. Next year it will be both!

Running and Rowing has become my top hobby in my leisure time, and even after 3 years, I cannot seem to get enough of it!

Happy running, rowing or working out everyone!

Nice job and lovely to read your update. I’ve just joined the Running World Cup team. It’s my first 6km+ run for over 15 years today so hoping that will go well. Great to hear how much you enjoyed the longer runs. That’s great inspiration

Fab! Welcome to the Worldcup HU 2022 team!

Yes, I think I’m the kind of “longer-rather-than-faster” runner AND rower.

I put my music on and zone out. (I got to save up for a new pair of headphones so I’m thinking of splashing out on bone-conducting ones)

I love my Aftershokz. I definitely wouldn’t go back now I’ve run in them. They’re great.

I’ll try to channel a chilled vibe for today and see how I go. (1.5km extra feels a lot but if I’m going at a slower pace it should be doable).

Brilliant!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Slowly but surely is the key 🙂

I’m thinking that the rowing and running compliment each other. 🏃🏻‍♀️🚣🏻‍♀️

I’m faffing about getting to 10k again, following the Magic Plan. Did 9k the other week, then decided that I just fancied some shorter runs…I’m putting no pressure on myself, I’ll run 10k when I’m ready.

Of course with RWC, I’m more likely to register a 3k run in the time limit anyway 😂🐌

Definitely! The 10k will wait for us until we’re ready!

Rowing has definitely been a step change in making my knees even stronger. Weightloss … 🤣🤣🤣… not so much… and still elusive to the ones with my condition (Hashimotos) but still working on fine tuning everything to do with my health and fitness. And the 10ks will hopefully help.

I’ve joined the Running World Cup team. I’m away and on a running break for the first 4 days but should be back to running (and may need this extra motivation) for the rest of it!

Great post! That’s a fab way to follow the NRC plan. I’ve hit the real life “7 weeks to go” with my HM one now so I’m going to have to skip runs if I can’t manage the 5 runs a week which is unlikely. Enjoy your leisurely pace!
