Hello all you amazing, astonishing, fabulous MAGIC RUNNERS!!!
Welcome to Week 8 of the Magic Running Plan - or if you're not at Week 8 yet, welcome to whatever week you're on, it's all good!! π
I hope you are happy with your progress so far! I know we've had some graduates already, but if you're not there yet, or if things haven't gone so well, don't worry, YOU CAN DO IT!!! The main thing I would like you to do this week (and I hope every week) is HAVE FUN AND BOOGIEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! ππππ
This week we will be focusing on the runs, so there's no strength workout indicated on the plan. But feel free to jump into the strength circuit, or do your usual thing! Did anyone have a go at the balancing putting-on-your-shoes exercise???
See the pinned INFO POST for all the Magic Running Plan details and useful links π
Good luck everyone. Donβt worry if youβve dropped behind because of Christmas. Just fit the runs in when you can. A running week can take as long as you want. π you are all awesome.
Struggling to get the runs in now. Christmas and work getting in the way but determined to do my 10K before the year ends, so might end up skipping on the shorter ones.
Merry Christmas all and twixmas I didnβt manage the 9 k and only did 7:5 last week now this morning felt like an elephant did 5 k in plod style so am going backwards from having done an 8 k few weeks ago . Iβm obviously heavier and as I dont want to injure myself with strain of it but neither do I want yo loose momentum waiting til end of Jan for new plan so I think I want to start at doing 8 k of ju ju then work on 9 and 10 but reckon Iβll do the timed ones before the k ones to give myself time .. anyone else drastically lost it !
Every run when you are building is faster or slower. Easier or harder. I did the time one and the lack of stress meant I actually did the 60mins quite quick. So I just kept adding time. In the end 10k just happens. Time magic plan gets my vote. ππΌππΌππΌ
I completed my C25K a fair few month back...then fell by the wayside, I have spent the last month re-doing C25K and wondering how I get on to the next stage!
Tonight I came across JU Ju magic running plan...what is this plan and how do I access/use it?
Is the new plan in January for newbies ?
Had a look at your post but couldnβt work it out...
The plan is for anyone who has completed Couch to 5K and is comfortably running 5K and/or for 30 minutes.
There are essentially two plans in the Magic Plan, one is to get you to 10K ('distance plan'), the other to 60 minutes ('time plan') of continuous running.
The image on this Info post details the runs for each week:
The total distance/time running increases each week for 8 weeks. There is always a short run, a medium run (30 mins or 5K), and a long run (up to 60 mins or 10K).
You can start the plan at any time, but we also run regular groups where people can join in and do the plan together. The next of these will start in late January.
The runs will be the same as the plan in the link, there may be some differences to the strength exercises.
Keep looking out for posts about the Magic Plan. ju-ju- herself will be running it, and will posting an invitation to join at some point within the next few weeks.
Well I'm fed up - had a really bad cold & cough when I reached 8K. Still coughing but felt ok to run earlier this week. Did a Christmas Day Park run (which was huge!) and despite being slow I managed the whole run.
So this morning I happily trotted off to park run but my knee suddenly gave way part way round. So now I'm home with my leg elevated, walking with a walking stick. My sneaky plan to try to do 10K on Monday is scuppered. I know these things happen but I've started this plan twice and had to give up both times so I feel very disheartened. π
Don't give up! When you feel well enough, carry on! Maybe drop back to Week 3 if you feel worried about running the 8K after a break. You can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I admit that I had to adapt the programme to fit my schedule, but it was the foundation.
I did a progressive long run each week, plus a parkrun; no change there. Strength training at the gym twice a week. The third, shorter run I generally replaced with a cycle ride on Sunday. I donβt ever run two days consecutively so I needed a low impact alternative to fit into the weekend.
Finished. I am a late December finisher as my father died Christmas Day. But I wanted to do this for him as much as me. so I went out today and ran 40 mins away from home so I had to run back. It was 9.5km when I got back so I looped a further km to do 10.5km. Took 1.32 to do but I as ecstatic. sept the 5th I started running. Jan 7th 10k. Total running km for the week 23km and I also put in an hours spin and a 5k dog walk. π₯³π₯³π₯³
Christmas partying and life in general got in the way so I'm finally starting the final week now. The two 9k runs have been easier than I had anticipated. I got quite bored during the runs, in fact. I shall report back when I cross the big 10k mark
Completed the 60 minute run one day and one year after I started C25k.
Big thanks to you for the plan. It got a bit delayed due to the weather and Christmas, but worked like a dream.
Iβm starting it all over again to consolidate. It took me ages to recognise that I could run for half an hour so Iβm happy to do the same again for the hour runs.
