The Running World Cup is back!

… and we have a team!

As for the last couple of years, we’ve set up a Health Unlocked Team for the upcoming Running World Cup, starting Tuesday 20th September 2022 and finishing on Sunday 9th October 2022.

And I’m aware that we have runners coming from all corners of the world and we can all be on one team. UPDATE: And although we all are on one team, we each run for our own chosen country linked to your profile.

So there are two incentives here:

- run as part of your chosen country

- run as part of our team, and see how much distance we are collectively contributing (to our own chosen countries). there is also a team leaderboard and chat!

★★★ Your invite link to our team is ★★★

app.runningworldcup.com/tea...

All the usual running trackers can be connected.

And more info is at runningworldcup.com with a troubleshooting FAQ here runningworldcup.com/help-an...

One thing to note is that in order for your runs to qualify for being used towards the country total, they need to be at least 30min for 3k . All your runs are listed and tracked but only qualified runs are used towards country results.

And last year, England came fourth but it was touch and go in the final hours to see if we got bronze! See our post at that time healthunlocked.com/bridgeto...

Happy running

Aaargh! I’ve been embracing my inner snail 🐌 on this latest journey…

I’ve checked the FAQ and…re team points etc…because it’s a running competition “3 km is the the safest minimum distance that can be completed within 30 minutes”…

…so you must have a minimum speed of 6km/hr (I make that 10min/km)…

…I’ve not run that fast since last year 😫

Ok…just checked…did some 30 minute/3km runs back in May! 😅

Nice! Yes, last time none of mine counted! It’s one of their rules I’m not to keen on, as I love my deliciously slow runs! But we got this!

I’ll have to make sure I do a River Walk (2 miles) run at least once a week! 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

Just checking, this team is representing Britain?

CBDB profile image
CBDBGraduate10 in reply toFitwannabe

Just to correct what I posted before, the teams can be made up of international members, but each member’s km will contribute to their chosen country linked to the profile.

So our whole team might contribute to lots and lots of different countries.

Checked that, and I wasn’t quite sure before.

How strange. Does the following sequence not work? (I never tried completely changing the country, but I can get to the drop down menus of lists of countries). See pic sequence.

Fitwannabe : As far as I can tell every individual can decide their nation (Welsh, German, Australian, etc). So last year we had an international team.

However the team itself displays only one flag linked to the location of the person setting up the account, and there is no international flag, or a British flag, but rather only in our case an English flag. I’m unable to change that, so I fear we are flagged with the English flag.

As a German, having lived in Scotland, Netherlands, the US and now England, and also knowing how multicultural our runners are, it would have been nice to set it to something more representative… but I guess it is designed to be a challenge / cup where countries vie for the first place.

So a bit complicated and not perfect, but great fun!

Quick question, I've downloaded the world cup app, and selected Strava as my tracker as I don't have a running watch at the moment. However, in Strava it's not showing as connected to the app but not sure if that's because it hasn't started yet. Anyone know from last year if it should show?

CBDB profile image
CBDBGraduate10 in reply toHedgehogs123

I think it wouldn’t appear in Strava (as it only reads and doesn’t write).

But it should appear in the Run World Cup App. Pic is from the app where it already tracks my runs that are automatically uploaded to my Strava account.

Hi CBDB. Thanks for your email reference running World Cup of which I’m super excited 😀. However when I opened up your reply the page said oops page no longer existed ? Also when I checked here my post is no longer on here . Just wondered if it had been accidentally taken out🤔?

I was just wondering if you or anyone else could point me in the right direction for placing an avatar by my name on the running World Cup team please.

CBDB profile image
CBDBGraduate10 in reply toFolkylass

Hi Folkylass, sorry about that. Behind the scenes we’ve had some discussions in the admin teams and we decided to delete my post on the Couch25k forum (and with it, I fear, all replies went with it). We felt it might encourage beginner runners to run faster and further than they might be ready for.

But we kept the post on this form and our Marathon forum, and of course all the links to the WorldCup challenge are unchanged.

So if you click on this invite link, you should be able to create your profile.
