I'm currently on loads of different supplements to try and help boost my immune system, reduce inflammation and for joint health. Recently when I'm having a flare up the joint pain isn't getting as bad as it used to, I'm wondering whether it's the supplements helping or that bechets is so unpredictable that it's giving me false hope. Does anyone recommend any herbal supplements they swear by or foods to avoid/eat more off. Here what I take. I've spend a bloody fortune! 😂
Magnesium
Glucosamine
Vitamin D3
Vitamin C
Kelp
L'lysine
Omega 3
Berberine
Tumeric & black pepper
Also the first sign of a flare up for me is a rash over my chest and occasionally under my eye, does anyone else experience this?
Thank you

I used to take lots of supplements (a similar list to you), and follow a gluten and dairy free diet. This year I followed the Zoe Nutrition programme and discovered that I don't need them. And I can eat gluten and dairy quite happily in the right food / meal combinations. I try not to eat too much starch because I think it spikes my blood sugars high and I think that might correlate with inflamatory symptoms. I avoid Ultra processed foods. Where possible. In particular emulsifiers. I eat loads of veg, nuts, seeds, whole foods. I still eat Meat but much less than I used to. Eggs and fermented dairy feature highly.
I try to exercise most days even if that's just walking or house work. (I'm fit enough to run, cycle, swim but only do what I know I can manage and built up to it slowly).
I went off supplements a bit when I discovered they are mostly owned by pharmaceutical company's. They are not well regulated. There may be some that have a place. (Vit D in the winter?) I studied Nutrition for a while but realised I was being heavily influenced by the supplement companies. Some may be useful but cleaning up my diet has made the biggest difference.
Sleeping well and managing stress are also useful strategies.
I usually feel a bit fluey when going into a flare. With either mouth ulcers or erythema nodosum spots. Bechets likes to change it up though and keep you on your toes.
I genuinely think the Zoe really helped. It's expensive but I've made the money back not buying supplements!! I also feel better than I have in years. They have lots on info on their podcasts that you can listen to for free.
There was a very large study done on supplements and believe it or not this very large very well run study concluded supplements are a total waste of money...
An American cardiologist preaches this very regularly and cites the study often. I don't have it but I am sure Dr. Google has this for anyone wanting to look into it.
Hi! I would recommend you to try Glucosamine Chondroitin MSM for joint support amazon.com/Glucosamine-Chon.... It is a very helpful supplement for joint health, especially for someone with Behcet's who experiences joint pain. It reduces joint pain and improves joint function and elasticity. And for the rush it's better to consult a dermatologist, it may be allergy.
