Tingle prior to ulcers appearing??

Just before I get a bad flare up of a genital ulcer I've started getting a tingly pain down my leg and buttocks it feels really like a nerve pain, very similar to when I had shingles. It's painful for about 3 days before the ulcers breakout it's agony to sit down on a toilet seat. Does anyone else get this?

Hi. This sounds like it could be the herpes virus. That causes nerve pain like that. Can be possible you have behcets ulcers and herpes ulcers. You can get a swab done to see. All of the immune supression medicine will bring the herpes out more.

Hi Jo,

That's exactly what it feels like, the tingle before a cold sore but down my leg. However during my diagnosis my ulcers were swabbed for herpes and they were negative so I just don't know

You are right I have both herpes virus and bd ulcers...i get that pain tingling in both my bum cheeks I jump when i sit down especially on the toilet!!

Could it be nerve damage if you've got scar tissue??

Ruth what do you get for this? Do you get the tingling just before a bd flare or a herpes flare? It's so uncomfortable, I'm literally just off the phone from the rheumatologist (she's very good and we talk on the phone if I have a flare or just for advice) she said the tingling can be very common in bd as the disease does effect your nerves. I've been adviced to increase my colchicine to 500mcg 3 times a day

The tingling and nerve pain is horrible, I find it really painful. I too have both and take a tablet to keep it away especially on steroids as it brings out the herpes more. You need the steroids for the behcets but then it brings out the herpes more becuase of the surpressed immune system. Can't win
