I remember being sick when increasing yrs ago.can I expect this again?also taking ativan 0.5 1/2 tab od.also more anxiety but MD doesn't want to increase.Have also been on same small does for 10 years.I'm scared of increasing Zoloft and worried about anxiety. Anyone been thru an increase? Thanks

Hi 76Cat, eventually our medications can lose their efficacy after

a long time. I do not have any experience in having been on Zoloft

but I have gotten to the point where my drug no longer worked.

At that time, I was transferred to another medication that has seemed

to be the answer. It's not only about the length of time we've been on a

med but also age plays a part in how we metabolize the drugs as we get

older. Please trust your physician to make the wise choice for you.

Wishing you good luck. :) xx

76Cat I agree with designguy, in increases dosages slowly.

Let us know what your doctor suggests. I care :) xx

I would increase it by 25mg for a time and see if it makes any difference especially if you have had issues in the past with increasing dosage. I would give it 2 or 3 weeks to see if it helps and then increase by another 25mg if needed. At one time I was up to 200mg/day of zoloft.

Thanks did you increase to 200 and over what period of time? Did it help?

I did increase it to 200mg over a period of about a year. I think 200mg is about the maximum amount that is recommended. I was on zoloft for a number of years and wasn't improving even with the increase to 200mg so I tried over a half dozen other meds over a few years without results. I then did a psychopharmacological test that used my dna to determine which meds were best suited for me genetically, I started on one the test recommended (Pristiq) which was a different type of med and it worked. Personally I would try increasing your zoloft and give it time to see if it makes a difference since we are all differnt and react differently to meds. My test was from Genesight and paid for by my insurance which was great. Some people on this site didn't have good results from the Genesight test but I did. I do think from my experience and what I have read is that meds alone won't resolve the problem you also need to incorporate appropriate therapy if you aren't already.
