Zoloft: Hello im 17 and i started zoloft... - Anxiety Support
Zoloft
Hi izzyx, when starting new medications, we are bound to feel some increased anxiety due to the fact we don't like taking meds. However, because you are feeling so irritable, a bit depressed and starting with intrusive thoughts, it would be best to call your doctor or even the pharmacy that filled your medication. Everyone reacts differently to medications. x
I started mine this week aswell and i feel worse at the minute more anxious . Also been feeling sick so it's going to be hard to stick with it
Starting new meds can cause anxiety, but if I recall correctly, Zoloft can cause it more than just the amount of time it takes for your body to get used to it. I think it causes anxiety for some people as long as they take it. I've never had it with Zoloft, but I've definitely had my share of anxiety causing medicines. Call your doctor and let him know. You probably will just need up to a week though for your body to get used to it. Since you took it for the first time today, it may not be that though that is causing your irritability because medicines usually take a few days before the effects happen. Good luck, and one pro tip: Always make sure you have it filled on time, because going even 2 or 3 days without makes you feel horrible. If I run out and haven't got it filled yet, after 2 or 3 days I'm very emotional, very depressed, and feel horrible inside. It is not a fun experience so try hard to avoid it.
Zoloft can be a real challenge in it's first stages, especially in young adults, but a very beneficial medication for many (including myself) when adjusted to. You are on a pretty low dose, so the irritability may have come from not knowing what to expect/ anxiety of starting a new medication/ or apprehension of starting meds at all. Give yourself a chance to adjust, at first you may feel fatigued, jumpy, a little lofty, but it can take up to two weeks for your symptoms to improve so be patient. As always, if you're experiencing severe effects, contact your Dr immediately. Best of luck to you, and hang in there, you are not alone in this.
izzyx-How are you doing on the Zoloft today?
I seem to be with you today (or I guess that was yesterday, sorry)...but I guess I'm more just kind of blah, or meh....anyway, how many days now have you been taking the 25mg? If you can find some distraction maybe you can power through, though always listen to your Dr.....it gets better, one way or another.
Ive been on it for 4 days now. How about you?
