Anxiety coping mechanisms.

I have been a lifelong sufferer of anxiety. It is a double edged sword. It helps me to function in stressful times. I used to be in a high stress work environment, and I wasn’t aware that my anxiety was fuelling my adrenaline. I was seen to be coping very well, and I was enjoying the challenges of my problems as a manager. When I was wrongly attacked by a junior member of staff, I did feel wounded. I started to dread going into my once happy workplace. That’s when my adrenaline was zapped and the anxiety took over. I started to doubt my own ability. I knew that it was affecting every aspect of my once happy life. I left my job and moved to another area of the country. I saw my GP and I had talking therapy. I am grateful that I recognised that my health is vital. I think that talking is the first step, but doing anything that you enjoy is massively important. I practice reiki and meditation to help me sleep. Medication should be a last resort rather than a go to. Helping myself to understand what triggers me has helped me live a happy and healthy life.
