Does anxiety cause muscle twitching?
Hi Marlene,
Muscle twitches from anxiety are very common. I would say that they are one of the most common symptoms of anxiety. I have experienced them on and off for about 15 years- in my limbs, my face and occasionally my chest. I go through periods of months where I don't get them, and then they will pop back up for a while before stopping again.
The main thing to remember is that they are not dangerous. Once you realise they can't hurt you, you will stop reacting so strongly to them. Good luck
I’ve had muscle twitching since 2007. All over my whole body. In places I would not have expected to have muscles even! I’m still here all these years later. Look up BFS. Anxiety can cause this. My twitches are far worse when I’m full of anxiety.
I find that taking magnesium supplements have diminished my muscle twitches due to anxiety
Hello Marlene5916, I’m no doctor in any shape, matter, or form. But having had much high anxiety over the past 30 + hrs. I would definitely say yes anxiety may cause muscle twitching. I think it’s due to the fact that our (people with anxiety) bodies are so sensitive because of all this anxiety that any little body issue makes us so ramped up so that we feel & more importantly notice it. Whereas most people outside the “living with constant anxiety “ world wouldn’t even notice a muscle twitch let alone start their health over-thinking trap.
Anxiety has caused our minds to over think , over worry , and made us so sensitive to everyday issues. Best wishes with your anxiety troubles. Anxiety is EVIL.
