Has anyone tried Vortioxetine?

I was wondering if anyone has tried this antidepressant? It's a fairly new one and is not often prescribed. If so did it work for you? My GP has agreed to prescribe it.

No, I've never heard of it but like you day it's fairly new, have you done any research on it?

I did Loki. Although strictly speaking it's an SSRI it is slightly different to the others. I've been on the low dose of 5mg a day for over 2 weeks now but also keeping on Mirtazapine 30mg for now. I tried cutting the Mirtazapine at the weekend by half but with disastrous results. I felt incredibly low on Sunday morning it almost sent me into a panic state and my anxiety shot through the roof and I had to take a Lorazepam to calm me down, so I'm now back on the full 30mg Mirtazapine. I've got an emergency GP appointment later this afternoon to discuss all of the meds. I really don't think I should have started on this tablet at all now.

Hi, these meds are heavy to lower and up on you're own as you know, just go to you're app and tell them what you just said your concerns in all let me know how you get on⛄👍

Hi Loki. I spoke to a GP at my new surgery yesterday (the emergency appt). She was very nice. She advised me to stop taking the Vortioxetine and to just stay on the Mirtazapine 30mg for now. She is going to refer me back to the local MH team though because I have a benzodiazepine dependancy which is further complicating matters. I hope I can get more appropriate support from them because I'm really not in a great way at the moment. I'm having mood swings and most mornings are a struggle. Please keep in touch.

The benzos won't help that mood thing but you prob already know the complications of being addicted to them,,, there heavy meds to God know wonder you're all over the place, good you went to you're app👍👍 stick in there buddy👍👍

Thanks Loki. I appreciate your support. I'll update you when anything changes. This weekend I'm going away for several days to stay with a new friend. I really need a break with company right now.

Vortioxetine is good, you will probably need 10mg to see the benefit. Just make sure you withdraw from mirt sufficiently before switch. Short term pain for longer term gain. Go easy on your brain.

I was advised by new doctor to stop taking Vortioxetine as I had a terrible time reducing the Mirtazapine. I'm still not in a good place and am waiting for a psychiatrist appointment. No previous SSRI's have ever worked properly for me.

HI, I started 10 mg vortioxetine 7 weeks ago and had some good and bad days, increased to 15mg 3 weeks ago and anxiety sky rocketed. I have been advise to stick with it but it is incredibly hard. Good luck.

I didn't take to it. Don't forget you're in charge of these meds, not your doctor. If you still feel anxious in a few days then they are obviously not for you.
