it's a program/book/dvd/CD that claims to deal with anxiety in a different way than the more conventional CBT or medication route, ridding panic and anxiety rather than teaching coping methods. It costs £64 on Amazon hence my willingness to find out if anyone had tried it.....! I was born a sceptic!
Has anyone tried/read 'Panic Away'? - Anxiety Support
Has anyone tried/read 'Panic Away'?
i`d be sceptical too at that price, some just prey on vulnerable people.well worth it if it works, but a lot of money if it does no good. do you have a a health worker to ask or even your g.p. dont get dragged in research it first.x
Hi Janice the sceptic in me would not let me buy anything without doing my research and it seems it's kind of based on The Linden Method. My hope was more that someone could tell me what its contents/program actually is and then lift (ahem) it from the net somewhere.
Hi janicecarrington. You are not alone in thinking this. I agree with you entirely. Best wishes. jonathan.
Thank you so much kelly, that was the kind of info I was looking for. Can I ask do you still have panic/anxiety attacks or has it rid them for good?
Hi kelly thank you and I know that is a very a generous offer as I've seen the price of it around. You will easily get that on ebay if not more. If you see my reply to janice above you'll see why I'm not snapping off your hand.....
Hello Stuart, please don't be put off by the cost of this programme, it is worth every penny!
kellyh69 has summed this up beautifully! and it certainly does help you manage (and control) the panic and anxiety attacks. I have personally found it very effective in reducing the frequency and intensity of my own anxiety attacks which I have suffered from for over 30 years and only in the last year or so (since I came across it) have been much more in control of things. I purchased this as a series of downloaded documents from their web-site. There is the "Panic Away" manual comprising ~250 pages covering every aspect of panic and anxiety disorders and what you can do about them. Just understanding what is going on in your mind and body,is a lot of the battle!! The approach as Kelly has said, is to embrace the intense emotions of panic when they occur, accept them rather than fight them, and actually demand more of your body to intensify the feelings!!.
As the reality of a panic attack is all in your own mind, this actually turns the situation around and puts you in charge of the situation as opposed to being the victim of it. The subscription to "Panic Away" also gives you access to the Panic Away manual and all of the presentation videos by Barry Joe McDonagh who assembled it, explaining how it works and additional downloads of audio files of the "21 second " routine, and the follow up "7 minute exercise" to reduce your anxiety levels quickly to manageable levels following an attack. Additionally there are 2 guided audio visualisation files to help rid your mind of anxious thoughts - you know, the ones that go round and round in your mind, worrying about things that will never happen (well almost never!!).
The other thing I have discovered recently is "Mindfulness Meditation" which helps me live in "the NOW" rather than in the area of my mind which is where all of the worry and the negative thoughts reside. This stops the worry/anxiety spiral in its tracks and its amazing how quickly you will feel the benefits!!
Hope this is useful feedback on Panic Away and I wish you every success in managing your personal situation.
kind regards, Mallet-head
Hi,
I've also been looking for information on this product as I'm pretty much in the same situation. I've checked out a few review sites such as bluebonsai.co.uk/panic-away... and it does seem to get some good writeups so I might have to give it a go.
Thanks
David
Hi All. Why pay out all that money when you can get, for less than ten pounds, a book by Dr.Claire Weekes that says all of what you have all said about this course. "Essential help for your Nerves". This women was recommended for the Nobel prize for medicine in this field, and you do not get that easily. She knew what she was talking about. It is strange how we think that by paying a lot of money we will get better results. This is what the so called "experts" do when they charge £100 per session for counselling! This is, of course, a matter of personal choice and these views are entirely my own. If the expensive way helps, then it may be for you. But my goodness, what a lot of money! All that has been said here has been said before and none of it is new, just more expensive. These are strictly my own views, and I speak from experience. Tried them all, been there, and have always come back to Dr. Weekes. Best wishes. jonathan
Hi. What is so significant about 21 seconds. Why not 50 or 10? Do you have to look at your watch and count down? If you can do this in 21 seconds then all I can say is that you cannot be that bad. What about the despair, the depression, the utter misery that most people suffer when in this state. The feeling of being in hell, of thinking there can never be any cure and that you will die before that happens.? Of utter desolation, loneliness, and the thoughts of suicide. That is REAL nervous illness and a lot of those on this site have been there. Do the people who write this stuff know about those feelings. I very much doubt it!. jonathan.
