Hi all....This is new to me. I am very nervous but I need help! I have just started prozac after quoting it about 3 months ago. I thought I was doing better in my life but I'm really not. I started back on 2 days ago and it's worse than ever. I'm so nervous and just not myself at all. I have no desire to make it to the gym which I absolutely loved to go. I guess I just need some advice in how to get through this. Not sure if I should stop the prozac or what?

Anxiety taking over
Hi CC. From my experience Prozac made me anxious and nervy too. I stopped and was started on Citilopram. It didn’t have the same jittery effect. And helped me a lot. A few people I know that took Prozac seemed very twitchy and hyper. Maybe go back and see if you can try something different. Good luck
Try to avoid Prozac, it can make you Hyper and very jittery specially if you have stopped without speaking to your doctor, starting again after quitting can be worse ,speak to your doctor also try breathing exercises that can help big time ( its what I have been trying myself and it does work to an extent)
Always remember..You control your body with your mind... Don't let it control you,
Take a day for yourself to get back on track and don't forget to DEEP breathe and sing!
Hi CC14 ,
I know how frustrating it is when anxiety keeps you away from things you like . This is only temporary so don’t forget that .
Antidepressants take up to 6 weeks to build up in your system so you won’t see a difference in 2 days.
Please don’t stop any medication without talking to your doctor . I have taken Prozac before ( 17 years ago ) for a few months and it was very beneficial at the time .
Each person reacts different to medication .
Good luck !

I found this really helps if you follow the shape with your breathing 👍🏻😊
Thanks everybody....I guess I will try to hold this out. Prozac DID work for me before. I know it took time. This is just an awful feeling though. Just want to be somewhat normal again. If that's even possible.
So I couldn't take it anymore and called the doctor. They were able to fit me in today. My BP has always been really good as I try to take care of myself. Come to find out it is now 140/84. My norm is around 110/69. She says that is definitely anxiety. Ya think??? Anyways she says to increase the Prozac from 20 mg to 40 mg and .5 mg Xanax at night. I can't believe she is telling me to increase it. I feel the Prozac is making the anxiety worse...and that is only taking 20 mg! I told her this and she insisted to rake 40!!!! I don't know what to do!!!! I just don't want to have a full blown nervous breakdown!!!! Somebody please help!
Prozac is not really used for anxiety disorders anymore. And although it may have worked in the past, our bodies changes. Is this a regular family med dr or a psychiatrist? I would suggest asking to switch to Zoloft, celexa or even lexapro. I agree with the Xanax .5 at bed. Doubling dose of Prozac just seems silly to me if you are reacting poorly to a lower dose. I wish drs would listen to their patients more and be more open minded. I hope you feel better
