Health anxiety... can anyone relate?

You get anxious about some health issue, you get the clear from the doctor, you immediately worry about some other health issue, you get again the clear from the doctor... you start doubting the doctor's diagnosis and convince yourself that the doctors missed something... the cycle of health anxiety...

I just can't get over it...

munrapz, and this is the game that Anxiety plays with our minds. It happens to me as

well. Pretty sad isn't it when even a normal result adds to our fear that doc may have

missed something. How much power we allow Anxiety to have will continue to raise

our fear cycle. I remember writing to you 8 years ago. Are you still working?

Life does change around us as we must adapt to these changes or we get left in the dust.

Place your trust in the professionals and not you mind telling you doubts.

If not, then anxiety has free rein on going from one health issue to another. Once you

put a stop to it's lies, things will settle down. I'm glad you came back for community

support. :) xx

Hi, Agora1, always nice to see your comments ans replies. Yes, I am still working and doing good on that front. Probably will get back to medical treatment.

I have the same issue with health anxiety. That leads me to reading more about my symptoms and ultimately WebMD diagnoses me with a week to live. 🤣 It is crazy how anxiety plays with our minds. I agree with previous comments, trust your doctor. Remind yourself that if it is something serious you would be having an actual medical emergency and it wouldn't last for the 30 minutes your panic attack does.

Absolutely correct TXanxiety74.. an emergency thought doesn't usually last for

30 minutes and then leave. Anxiety plays this game with our minds. I think of it as

games are meant to be won and that's what I do with this continual negative thoughts

and that is win over them.

If I think it's more than anxiety, I call my doctor and believe in what he says. :) xx

Great that you take this with humor, especially when you put it tha way!😂 I always tell people to trust their doctors, but when it is with me, I just have many doubts!

I have been dealing with anxiety for 30 years now. It is better to laugh at it because if anxiety gets it's way, it will lead to depression and more anxiety. But trust me, I have not overcome it. I struggle everyday so humor helps.

Thank you for sharing this TXanxiety74. You reminded me that it’s learning to live with it. I struggle when it’s quiet and then out of nowhere rears its ugly head and more amplified.

100%. I never believe what the docs tell me. I’m afraid to go to bed most nights, as that’s when I’m at my worst. Dr Google has a lot to answer for 🫣😵‍💫😅.

Best wishes for a calm & peaceful weekend.

I also struggle with anxiety mostly at night. Right now I have a tension headache and neck pain from anxiety. It’s lasted for at least a week. I try to stay calm, deep breathing, but my physical symptoms just persist. I am currently looking for a good therapist. I end up feeling nauseous at night and can’t get to sleep which leaves me very tired for work.

That is exactly what I’ve got at the moment - an horrendous headache at the back of my head & neck, that I also think is a tension type headache. I’ve had it on and off for days. It makes me feel very nauseous too & unwell. I suffer terribly with health anxiety

I hope you feel better soon 🤞.

I can really relate ! There are YouTube videos that help me , I especially like the ones from the Anxiety guy. He’s done a lot on health anxiety as he used to suffer himself.. If you listen to him when you are feeling anxious it really helps. I’m also currently trying hypnotherapy

You may want to get a second opinion, unless you believe the doctor. You may want to train yourself not to look at conditions and self diagnose. It’s hard knowing what to worry about and what not to.

My anxiety would sometimes manifest as health anxiety. My suggestion is to checkout the youtubes of Paige Pradko and also Mathew Codde at Restored Minds, they are both therapists that had health anxiety/OCD and healed themselves and now help others heal. it could be that you have some degree of OCD which is common with health anxiety.

yes. You’re not alone munrapz. Hypochondriasis. It’s a total demon. The fear sets in and it can become a cycle of it all. And since our bodies are loud and noisy and do all kinds of things, being hyper aware of it and health anxiety terrible combo. I agree with Agora response below. Acceptance and then working toward sitting in it while using breathing techniques and meditation or journaling or therapy combo, all helps. It has beat me up this week so I hear you. Prayers up 🙏🏻

I’m on fluoxetine and have been for years tried to come off it and fell apart but I’m still hyper stressed and anxious 😥
