I’ve just had a stressful journey where I was stuck on a busy train (in the UK) with no air-con and no water. It was super hot. There were no announcements why the train was not moving. I could feel my anxiety rising and my heart was pounding like mad.
We eventually started moving and the driver made an announcement that someone was about to jump from a bridge so we had to proceed with caution.
Happily, the person involved removed themself from the bridge and hopefully they are getting some help.
Somewhat selfishly though, I started thinking about what would happen if I had been stuck on that train for any longer. No fresh air, it was busy and really hot, I had no water and felt certain I would have a full on panic attack.
This has made me really nervous and I wondered if anyone else has experienced this and how you coped? Thank you for reading.

its one of those situations you just have to understand and reason with.someones life was possibly at stake but I think the driver shouldn't have made that announcement though could have triggered people off on the train.yeah we suffer but times like that make us think about our own personal stuff.i don't know what I would have done maybe call my mrs or look at pictures in my phone or go to a less busier carriage for more air.glad to hear it turned it ok for you and hopefully the person receives the treatment they need.
Thank you for your reply, yes it has made me realise that there was someone worse off than me but I still struggled to keep my panic under control feeling trapped in a situation out of my control.
Would be interested to hear from anyone who has had a similar situation?
I lived in London for many years and used the tube to get everywhere. It was hell in the hot weather but you just have to grit your teeth and put up with it. Once I remember the train just a few minutes later than me broke down and passengers were fainting and panicking all over the shop and desperate communters smashed windows to get some air. Horrible.
I also missed the Kings Cross fire by around 2 hours. If it had been earlier I would have been in the ticket area where the fireball was and could have been killed. A few at work missed it by a few minutes.....horrible. x
My mother had told me that people have coped with very adverse conditions by reading poetry. She even gave my brother a book of Robert Frost poetry before he deployed in a air craft carrier. Maybe it is worth a try.
