Hi. Intro here. I always knew I wasn't right since extreme childhood trauma from birth to 15 (without going into all the physical, emotional. psychological, mental trauma) and then an 18-year marriage of the same. So I've never been treated for anxiety and depression and I'm sure it's what I have. Prolly have other things to. I have an appointment with the Dr on 26 Jun. I'm not even sure what to say. I read over lots of posts, and I think I see that although treatments are available, there's meds and therapy. If this is true, why are people still suffering so bad. Didn't the meds work? What am I missing here. Am I feeding into the idea, take a pill and all is OK. Help me. What meds might he give me as first line meds.

What a difficult question. Everyone's experience with medication is different. Some have great success. Some do not. I am sure some people "take a pill and all is OK." You might not find any of them on this site. Many people here are treatment resistant and did not have success with meds. We are all here to support each other and share what has worked for each of us individually. I truly hope that you will be one of the lucky ones. I am so glad you are going to talk to your doctor. Most people who have a trauma history also need psychotherapy to work through it.
I'm afraid of psychotherapy bc I've never did that and it means sharing information. I'm uncomfortable with it and it means trusting someone. I've never trusted anyone... ever.
I have a hard time with the concept of trust. I really don't like the word. I don't think I can actually say I trust anyone. I don't know how I would explain it or what word to use. I am ok with my therapist. I do believe he is trying to help me. So I am not sure if you have to go so far as to trust to work with one. You would have to feel comfortable enough to share though. I am so glad that you feel comfortable enough to share here with us.
Welcome to the community. I'll advise you start with therapy first to see how it goes. Make medications the last option if possible. Speak with your therapist to see what is available for you.
Many people use both meds and therapy and finding a good fit with a therapist can be difficult…but they are very helpful if you find the right one..
Meds help many but not all. Many have to try a few to get good results.. Anxiety can be a life long journey for many of us .. I add meditation and exercise to my arsenal ..
It’s not always an easy road but you have to keep trying…one day at a time. Good luck with your journey on finding peace
I found that meds helped me cope better but alone did not resolve my anxiety/depression. What really helped me make progress was working with a trauma therapist that used emdr as part of the therapy to help me deal with and process my trauma from childhood and being bullied. What also helped with anxiety/panic was learning that anxiety is a paradox, the more you resist the more it persists so the solution is to learn to tolerate the anxious feelings and let them flow through you. I found the DARE Anxiety book and youtube videos very helpful for learning how to constructively deal with and heal anxiety.
This is what i need "help me deal with and process my trauma from childhood"
