Chest pressure

Happy holidays everyone! I was wondering if anyone else has a tightness/ pressure in the middle of their chest? My doc did took me off Prilosec a couple weeks ago and I'm wondering if this could be the culprit. I also have been having slight breathing issues. I have had a sore throat and a cough these past couple days. I'm the type of person who thinks there is a medical reason for all the “physical symptoms" so I guess I was wondering if anyone could put my crazy anxiety brain to ease because I'm thinking the worst.

Sounds to me like you have a cold! That could definitely be the cause of chest discomfort. It freaks me out too

yes it consumes your thoughts because you have medical anxiety. It is the way of it........

I have had to learn to accept how I am feeling and always ASSUME that I am fine.

Why not give the positive thought more credibility than the negative one?

Yes that happens to me all the time too and I have to talk myself down or get reassurance

For the last six months I've been handling my health anxiety pretty well. But the last couple days have been really tough I tried to do my meditation and breathing exercises and remember everything I've learned in therapy a sometimes it's hard to switch your thought process when you have thought about having a heart attack for 11 years it's hard to just shut those thoughts off

Hello, I have the same issue as you. Worrying constantly that there is something more serious going on. Sometimes I wake up feeling there is an elephant sitting on my chest and I can't breath. I once had chest pain SO severe I was convinced it was a heart attack (it wasn't). Anxiety can cause a slew of physical symptoms including!! chest tightness and indigestion and shortness of breath. Why don't you try doing a relaxation technique that helps me... You tightened and release each muscle in your body starting from you toes to your head slowly. Make sure your laying down. Dim the lights. and take deep breaths. Usually by the end my physical symptoms lessen (they may return, that's okay) just try to relax and de-stress. :) you can try guided meditation too! just to help ease the anxiety you feel for now.

Thank you so much! Helps knowing I'm not alone. In counseling we did that technique where you tighten each muscle and then release ...I'm going to do it right now I totally forgot about it so thanks for bringing it up.

Hey there,

If I may ask, why were you on on Prilosec? this is usually intended for treating issues with the stomach or gas or heartburn among other things. What I am trying to ask here is what condition did you have for your doctor to prescribe this to you
