I can't cry or shed tears!

Hello Everyone,

I have a great concern about my eyes. I can't seem to cry at all or shed any tears! That worries me so much! I used to be able tp cru when I felt the need to do so but now I can't. My eyes seem dry...very dry! I didn't have this problem until I started taking and stopping that beta blocker called metoperol 25 mg, Extended release! I don't know if that possibly messed with my eyes. I noticed my vision has changed and my vision seems a bit blurred. At night I see halos around lights and headlights on cars look like starbursts/ fireworks. I went to my Ophthalmologist about 2 months ago and my eyes were fine. My eyes were dialated then too. I recently went to my Optometrist about 2 weeks ago and she said I have dry eyes and she told me to use Systane drops and take Omega 3 Flaxseed oil. The drops seem to make my vision more blurry. I don't know what is going on. Could it be the anxiety causing my eyes to be this way? Depression? Or one of my medications possibly? I stopped the beta blocker with my Drs permission. It was pretty low dose...it made me extremely tired. My heart still beats out of my chest. Idk if my blood pressure medication is right for me. I am on Valsartan 160 12.5 mg/ hctz. I take vitamin D3, Potassium Chloride 25 mg, and I just recently started a triple magnesium supplement. I was prescribed Zoloft 25 mg and was told to take half the pill at night to sleep off any side effects. And after 2 weeks, work my way up to the full pill. Anynody else experience issues with their eyes and not being able to cry even if you tried? I wonder if my eyes have been affected by my stress/ anxiety or something else? Can my Opthamologist prescribe me drops to help with possible inflammation? Or drops to help me cry again or a supplement? I am very concerned...thank you for any advice given and God bless.☺

Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

Tell your doctor right away if you have any of these unlikely but serious symptoms of dehydration: very dry mouth, extreme thirst, muscle cramps/weakness, fast heartbeat, severe dizziness, confusion, fainting, seizures.

Tell your doctor right away if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: very slow/irregular heartbeat, mental/mood changes (such as depression, mood swings), toe/joint pain.

Although this medication may be used to treat heart failure, some people may rarely develop new or worsening symptoms of heart failure. Tell your doctor right away if you experience any of these unlikely but serious side effects: shortness of breath, swelling ankles/feet, unusual tiredness, unusual/sudden weight gain.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

I am similar. Optometrist told me it was because of laser surgery that I had because cataract surgery replacement lenses had filled in. She said all laser treatments affect eyes this way. I would love to be able to have a good cry!
