Why anxiety? A touch of reflux and gastritis are not major issues. They probably biopsied the gastritis but that's only a routine procedure. I had an endoscopy a couple of years back and there was a bit of gastritis. I gave a sigh of relief and thought no more about it. Neither did the gastrologist. If they had noticed a tumour then I would have been worried.

Based on what you have told us here there is no cause for concern. The reflux can be easily treated with medication if it troubles you. I think you should be feeling tremendous relief not generating fear which only adds to the sensitivity of the nervous system.

Calm your mind, lovemybear, you're doing fine.

Thank you. I’m very relieved that colonoscopy was fine but given what happened to my grandpa ( he died from stomach cancer) the biopsy worries me. Nothing I can do about it except for wait and that’s harder than hell....not knowing.

I had the same thing. A year and a half ago. Don’t worry it’s standard that they biopsy. They have to. And 5 days is routine. Freaked me out too but if that doctor saw something truly concerning, you wouldn’t be waiting 5 days. You’d most likely hear from them right away. I actually took a deep breath when I called 48hrs later cause I was scared too and I kept getting passed to physician assistants. If you had something wrong a) you’d hear fairly quickly and b) you wouldn’t get the go around.

On the anxiety front, I had months of extreme pain where test kept coming back clear. I was told it was nothing serious but couldn’t believe it given the long term pain. It wasn’t until I had an endoscopy that the pain finally went away. It was as though that was what I needed to do to believe I was ok. No one telling me I was ok was getting through to me. You can truly worry yourself to the point where you cause symptoms that mimick worse things.

So try your best to relax and release control to things you have no control of. You will be far healthier and happier. It’s taken me a long time to learn that. A work in progress. ;)

I really wouldn't worry to much at all. I've had both loads of times, I even woke up half way through one of them !!. I no longer suffer with reflux or any kind of stomach issue, the thing that stopped it for me was magnesium glycinate. I know I go on about it alot but it really is a huge problem that people don't see or don't think about. Deficiency causes us alot of problems, slowly and progressively.

A reddening of the Oesophagus is likely to be benign (Barrett’s Oesophagus is possible for longstanding inflammation). Both are easy to deal with so don’t worry.

Thanks. That makes me feel better.

Interesting that magnesium helped. I have read that Apple cider vinegar also helps. Do not take proton pump inhibitors. You need more stomach acid, not less. More acid kills germs and causes the valve that closes to close tight. This keeps acid out of the esophagus. Voila, no more sores. The doc won’t tell you this, because they generally only believe what they were taught, or what the PPI drug sales people tell them. Google this. Don’t just believe me. 🤔

Wow, really? My dr has had me on PPIs for 6 weeks which aren’t helping anyway.

You will be fine, ask your doctor to prescribe medication for anxiety it WILL help.
