Scared about colonoscopy prep!!!

So I have to take Bisacodyl (Dulcolax) for prepping for colonoscopy. And I got online and read people’s horror stories about it. Now (since I already took it) I am freaking out. Anyone got advice? Anyone ever use it?

Hi Dustin, I can't undo what you read on line (it's never a good idea) It is a gentle laxative that will do no harm but prepare you for your colonoscopy. You are okay. Relax.... It's most commonly used by patients. Good Luck with your test.

I am not a nurse but my daughter has been through multiple colonoscopies each time taking dulcolax as the drug of choice by the GI doctor.

Yeah, tomorrow is the full prep. So tomorrow I will be needing to take 4 and take a whole bottle of Miralax. If I am nervous now. Tomorrow will be ultra nerves, but with all my bleeding issues in my intestines and stomach this needs to be done. I am getting stomach endoscopy and colonoscopy. And yes; reading the internet side effect forums is not a good idea at all.

You will always read horror stories but please don't worry my son had it done and he said it was absolutely fine and would never worry about having another one Good luck

This is what I practically lived on when I was on meds that had constipation as a side effect. I can’t even believe there are horror stories about. Lol! I dare not ever google side effects of chocolate!!!

Okay so I’m replying to myself but I got curious and decided to google chocolate. It has something called theobromine in it which is why it is bad for dogs. If a human eats 44 chocolate bars all at once it can hurt them too. Now I know why they have hot dog eating contests but not chocolate bar eating contests!!! I guess anything is potentially scary when you start thinking about it Not that I’m gonna eat that many chocolate bars but I really didn’t know all that!!

I didn't know that either Glendajean. As a matter of fact, I was taken back by the horror stories you found on Chocolate. I did know it's bad for dogs but didn't know why. And another interesting fact you wrote is about there never being a Chocolate Eating contest. Hmmm

Thank you for sharing that info. Like many of the others on the forum that is one of my passions and I'm not about to give it up. I don't smoke, don't drink but chocolate gives me that warm fuzzy feeling and makes me happy. I love learning something new every day on this forum. xx

Agora I sure don’t plan on giving up on chocolate either!! Especially those Riesens with dark chocolate over chocolate taffy!!! Yummm!!! There have been things I sometimes have to leave alone but not chocolate if I can help it!!
