I’m having a colonoscopy and upper stomach checked Wednesday. I’ve never went up anesthesia so any advice on how to calm my anxiety about it would help!

Hi DoggieLoverbon I'm here to wish you well tomorrow with your procedure.
If you could listen to some Relaxation Meditation and practice your breathing,
you will be in a better place mentally and physically. Once you receive the
anesthetic you won't remember any of the procedure. It will be your time to
take that rest for awhile that will reduce your stress and anxiety.
Picture us with you, holding your hand and telling you "it's going to be okay"
"you are going to be alright" "you've got this" Breathe Let us know when
you are able to as to how it went. xx
Hi Agora1. That's good advice you gave that once under anesthesia, they won't remember the procedure. For some reason, that is something that has come to mind also-that if I would ever have to go through it (again), I wouldn't remember it. I hadn't thought that way previously, at least not fully. 😊
Hi doggieloverborn, I found the actual procedure fine after receiving the anaesthetic and woke up when all was finished. However, I did find taking the moviepro prep meds very tough and had to take a reduced dose which was a little easier. I always think it would be a lot more easier if an injection could actually work instead of moviepro. Anyhow best of luck and believe me you will be fine and relaxed during the procedure.
If you, like me, have anxiety…..just think…..for this short period of time your anxiety will be zero.
All the best today x
Ughh anesthesia and me don't get along. I had a chelectomy done last yr and the after effects FOR ME were horrible. Bad nausea but the BEFORE is the worst. Lying in that hospital bed waiting for surgery with no meds was the worst. My BP and anxiety were sky high. Terrible feeling
1 milligram of lorazepam an hour before it happens but consult your doctor first.
