Dealing with panic, this has helped me.

2 things that I do to control my anxiety whenever I’m panicking:

1. Sit down on the floor, find a small square and start square breathing. Any object you can find that is a square will work. I use the pattern on my floor. Also I like following the square with a pen just to focus better. I do this every time I panic and after about 10 minutes I end up feeling relaxed and VERY sleepy. Remember not to think about anything expect the pen and square. Don’t let any thoughts slip through.

I do it for about 15 minutes then I take a break for about 2 minute while getting water and then I get back and continue for another 10 minutes.

DONT CLOCK YOURSELF. You have all the time in the world.

I’ve always thought this square breathing is bullshit but it actually helps. I’d say up to about 70% you just have to customize so that it works for you.

2. Write an anxiety diary! It’s very relaxing and you can write whatever you want in it as you’re the only one that will read it.

Get a notebook, your favorite pen and be creative about your anxiety when it’s arrived! Write how you feel and what makes you worried. Paint in it too! Paint your feelings and your symptoms and let it all out.

This has worked for me and might be an option for some :-)

Put time and effort into your anxiety! Learn what triggers it and be ready to fight when it comes! Be your own hero and learn how to deal with it in a way that works for you.

For me it’s these 2 methods I mentioned in this post. It might not work for you, but it’s worth a try!

See your anxiety as a part of you, this is who you are! It’s your own little illness that only you can cure! :-)

Stay positive!

Catahrina, thank you for sharing the tip about the "square" while breathing. Anything that makes you focus in the present moment is helpful. Have a great day! xx
