Can you go through withdrawal with lorazepam (Adivan)?

I’ve been taking Lorazepam for the last few weeks due to my anxiety but my dr has told me to stop and try something else due to the fact it’s addictive. Will I go through a “withdrawal”?

You may got through a bit of withdrawal if you've been taking them for a few weeks. Normally they are only recommended for a few days. Has your doctor discussed tapering the withdrawal at all ? ie. cut down to three quarters for three days, one half for four days, one quarter for 3 days and then off them for example? This is what they would normally suggest so I would have a word with them if I were you just to makes sure you get as few side effects of withdrawal as possible.

He changed me to a different med in the place of it, rivotril (Clonazepam)

I also should add I haven’t been taking them daily for the past few weeks, just when I’ve needed them.

At a low dose, lorazepam ought not to present you with that much a degree of withdrawal although different people react differently. Curious to note that your GP is treating you with the introduction of another benzodiazepine, something I have seen in a clinical setting before (psychiatric unit) but only there. I wish you luck.

He’s trying to get me until my psychiatrist appointment on Tuesday. I’ve had a really rough week in and out of the ER.

I understand better now, a gradual dosage lowering until your psychiatrist can see you and offer an assessment of you the two of you agree upon which will offer the best medication for you. I cannot express an opinion better because I have no idea of your present diagnosis. Over the years I have learned that it is of the utmost importance to be firm with them and be completely open without being angry (I used to harbour such an attitude, seething with rage inside). I wish you well.
