Please be careful of the supplements you take. I just found out today that my daily dose of 5000UI of Vitamin D capsules has an effect on my calcium blood calcium levels. Apparently there is an interaction with Vitamin K as well.

That is a high dose 5000ui. It's not so much the taking of vitamins and minerals it's the fact of not researching enough. Vitamin D can cause a build up of calcium in the body to dangerous level's if taken in too higher dose and without enough magnesium.

We live and learn.

Well apparently the main place for vitamin d says 5000ui is the new standard.... I don't think so.

If you took magnesium along with it which turns it into its active form maybe it might have been ok. I still think 5000 is high though. Crazy. Hope you feeling ok.

I was prescribed D3 after a blood test showed I was deficient in D, he gave me 1000iu strength tabs which to my mind is all you need, I also take calcium and magnesium combi (Boots brand) tabs daily, I agree with the others that 5000iu does seem rather high.

How do you know? I take vitamin d and calcium
