Vitamin D deficiency

Hello all :) Ok so I was recently told I have Vitamin D deficiency, low level of 13ng/mL. No wonder I'm constantly tired and with body/muscle aches. During my research I saw quite a few post online of Vitamin D deficiency linked to anxiety/panic attacks also with brain fog. People found that when their levels were back to normal they started to feel better anxiety wise and had no more brain frog. Has anyone experienced this or going through this? I'm starting on my supplements (mg & Vit D) I was prescribed 50000 unit capsules of D2 weekly for 12 weeks an then I will start on smaller dose of D3 daily.

Thank you all in advance!! <3

Yes my level was at 15. I'm on a 3 month treatment, this is my last month and I have anxiety I feel fatigue, weakness, dizziness, brain fog , and off balance my fatigue is so much better and weakness but I still feel the other symptoms from anxiety and at times I feel depressed.

Are you being tested again soon to check if levels are up? did you start on D2 or D3? My worse symptom at this point is my 24/7 lightheadedness so frustrating!! :( I hope you feel good soon from all your other symptoms :)

D3, and yes, I will go in to check that the levels are up once I take my last pill. Unfortunately the lightheadedness has not left me. It's gotten better with the supplement, but it's still there at times and I think it's because of the anxiety. I try to stay hydrated as much as I can as that also plays a part.

I am thinking if I should start taking D3 instead of the D2. I hear the D3 is better and D2 will not really help. I joined this FB group

Yes lightheadedness for me is the worse right now. I had been experiencing DR for about 4 months is gotten better I will say 80% my vision still somewhat weird but not as much but is this head pressure and lightheadedness that just doesn't go away. I am also drinking more water now and it does help.

I went to the doctor for mines. They prescribed me with the correct mines for me

Do you get eye strains and/or neck pain? How are your iron levels?

my vision has been weird ever since I started to experience DR. It has gotten better now about 80% have had it for 4 months now. And about the neck pain just tension/muscle pain in my neck upper back. Have not checked my iron levels.

I get light headed at times, usually accompanied by neck pain, eye strains, and sometimes fatigue. Usually lasts a couple hours each day.

I have low D too, as does everyone where I live (northeast Ohio is 70% cloud cover). I hope supplementing helps you feel better, but it irritates me that some of these companies push things like this as a cure all. It will work differently with everyone as it's impossible to tell which symptoms are related to deficiency, depression, etc, except by process of elimination. But it definitely won't hurt. Good luck to you!

Lol I live in northeast Ohio too and was told by my dr last week I have low d as well. I agree with the cloud cover comment as it has been cloudy and rainy for like a week now! I could really use some sun!!

Are you supplementing? I really hope it helps me at least a bit, these symptoms are just draining! :/

Yes. And you definitely need to be using D3. Still, I've had patients who were taking it everyday and their levels came back at ZERO. you have to use a quality brand, not the cheap stuff. Or, you can go to a tanning bed a few times a week.

you can predispose yourself to being disappointed that way you will not be so disappointed. mine was 22 went on higher dose of d3 got it up to 40 no help with anxiety or body aches.

Oh wow sorry to hear that :( have you been recommended to bring your levels higher than 40? I hear above 50 is ideal not so sure.

Anything under 25 is technically considered deficient. So theoretically one shouldn't notice a difference between levels of 40 v 50.

Hi i am so glad i read your post. I have had anxiety attacks for about 3 years now, never thought a vit.D deficiency could be the cause. I have aches and pains allover its an on and off thing, sometimes o feel like my body is shutting down and i will die because of this, such a scary feeling.

Hello, it can definitely contribute as there is vitamin D receptors all over our body and in our brain. Have you had your Vit D levels checked?

Hi Sweetsunshine,

I also had low vitamin D, I think 75-100 is optimal. This website is quite helpful for everything vitamin D related:

vitamindcouncil.org

I also took vitamin D3 spray with K2, D3 will raise your calcium levels but vitamin K2 will help direct the calcium to your bones.

healthline.com/nutrition/vi...

amazon.co.uk/BetterYou-DLux...

It takes a while for symptoms to resolve, but you should have levls checked regularly as you can overdose on Vitamin D.

Hope this helps.

Is so crazy how a vitamin deficiency can mess out whole system up and even crazier how it contributes to our anxiety. I am glad you feel good when your levels are stable :) and I'm sure this time around will be no exception!

I've had anxiety and depression all my life but not as bad as it has been in the last 1.5 years. I'm on doctor prescribed medicine for 8 weeks for Vitamin D deficiency and then OTC vitamin D - test showed level 15 ng/ml. I'm hoping this will help me manage the depression and anxiety. I'm also on Vitamin B12. Any words of encouragement regarding the hope that my depression and anxiety levels will be manageable after this?
