So I started pvcs the day my dad died. Three weeks ago. I've gone to er a few times the dr and cardiologist. All my blood work has been normal, ekgs normal ( 3 of them) and an echocardiogram. Normal. I wore a holter monitor for 24 hours. I got the results and it was abnormal. There was a 9 beat run of pvcs. My dr didn't seem overly concerned but I have another cardiologist appointment in a month. I wore the monitor a day after my dads funeral so I'm hoping it is all emotional stress and anxiety related. Has anyone else had all normal tests come back and then a run of a lot of pvcs? Anything help reduce the pvcs? I feel like my anxiety over them is making them more noticeable.

Sorry to hear about your dads passing . I too suffer from palps and waiting on an app to see cardiologist . I have been waiting awhile as my doctor thinks it's all anxiety related and my nerves etc . Hope you get the answers you want soon . Think positive
Hi Rgnonti,
Anxiety definitely makes your nervous system more sensitized to physical sensations.
My dad had PVCs checked out. He was much older than you at 81. The doctors said that as he was an healthy individual without heart disease, the PVCs need no treatment.
To relieve the palpitations, he was advised to
• just accept that they are there, most people don't even know they have the condition
• stop or at least reduce alcohol and caffeine intake
• stop the use of over-the-counter (OTC) nasal decongestants that contain adrenaline such as medications containing pseudoephedrine
• avoid weight loss supplements - should never be used without consulting with one's doctor
• stop drug abuse such as amphetamines, cocaine
• stop cigarette smoking.
Dad is still with us at 87
Hi R. I have had these my whole life..l since I was 12.
Mine are either GI triggered or emotionally triggered. Ive had extensive work ups. I worked in hospitals and would walk down to the ER, or up to CCU for an EKG.
It gets your attention alright. Its concerning when it happens but it is not dangerous. Alot of people have them but dont feel them.
I am a big fan of Inderal. An old cardiologist who I went to 30 years ago put me on it.
Some years I take it all the time some years I don't.
You had a legit event that triggered the symptoms. Work through your grief and shock, let time pass, know that the little kicking in your chest is annoying but not dangerous.
My dad suffered from PVCS all his life. He died at 90 from old age.
He was from the old country when there were no medicnes. The town doctor told him to drink HOT, sweet weak, tea when they started up and he did that all his life.
I use that too when I get tired from them sometimes and I am home to do so.
