Hi, I have struggled with anxiety and depression for about 8 years. I am going to see a psychiatrist in 3 days alone since I don't have family near me. Does anyone know what I can expect? I am so scared of going there and just need someone that has been to one to tell me what it is like. I am going for out patient services and live at home. I am on 150 mg sertraline. And I am also hypothyroid and am taking 0.075 mg Synthroid. I fake 0.05 mg zoplicone when I can't sleep and when I get an anxiety attack I take 5 mg clonazepam.

Hi, I've seen a psychiatrist for years to monitor my meditation and he also did talk therapy. It's nothing to be nervous about. They will ask you a list of questions about yourself and you answer them honestly. It's not a long session.

It's always a good idea to read about your condition and educate yourself on medication and relaxation techniques. Write down any questions or concerns and bring them with you to the appointment.

I was nervous too at the beginning. Good for you, you're taking responsibility for your mental health.

Best wishes!

Deb
