Afternoon Anxiety

Does anyone get this afternoon rush of anxiety. I seem to get it at the same time every day. I don't understand where it is coming from. I want to conquer this, it has been going on for months, and I don't know if I can keep this up.

Please help?

I have the same issue. I wake up nauseous first thing every morning. Than from about 12noon to 4pm anxiety/panic sets in. Quiets down a bit and then peaks again around 8 when I take celexa. I am currently weaning off this stuff. Don't fight it. Hopefully we get better soon.

Yes, I am trying to not fight it. Take it in, accept and let it pass. I am on Lexapro, starting my 6th week on it. Only seen a little improvement. I wake up nauseous also, but not every day. It seems as though the anxiety is evolving. I used to wake up every day at 4AM with a huge jolt of adrenalin - it was horrible. Now, that has gone away - one of the little improvements. I still can't get more than 3-4 hours of sleep a night. So i also have sleep deprivation.

It is all driving me nuts

Yes I get this also, mine comes from being alone. I am trying to go thru a medicine change and had to decrease my antidepressant and increase my Clonazepam. So far this afternoon is OK I am anxious waiting for hubby to get home but I am ok.

I am getting ready to go do dishes and try to cook dinner. Hoping that will help with my thoughts.

I am alone most days, except Friday Saturday and Sundays. But it doesn't make a lot of difference for me. I feel the anxiety if he is here or not.

I can't even think about cooking, I have a hard enough time eating. Do you have trouble getting food down?

I am right now having trouble eating as well. I eat and then my stomach gets upset and I lose whatever I have eaten.

Sounds like we are going thru the exact same things. ❤️

I just saw where you are having trouble sleeping, I am in that boat also. Sleep is very important for overcoming anxiety. The more tired we are the more anxious we get.

What is it with the 4 am time? I have been waking up between 4 and 4:30 am with a very hot feeling all over my body. I have moved to the couch right now so I don't disturb my husband.

Lastnight sitting here watching TV I was a bobble head! I could not keep my eyes open no matter how hard I tried. I had to wake up to take my bedtime Med so luckily my husband came and woke me at midnight. Took my med and put on my Cpap and fell off to sleep. Not solid sleep though.

I take Lexapro in the morning. Every morning at 8AM. I am in process of weaning off Klonipin. It helped for a while, my husband wants me to take it whenever i start crying. But, I know it is not helping me, in fact, I think it is hurting me. So i am weaning off. I am down to 1/8 of tab - that is about 1/3 of a miligram. Taking every other day, till Sunday then I will stop altogether.

My sleep is 1 to 2 hours every night - then i am restless, get up out of bed, go to the couch, back to the bed. I just can't get comfortable with this restlessness.

If the lexapro doesnt work, i don't know what i am going to do.

How long have you been on Lexapro? It can take 4 to 6 weeks for it to kick in. Also how long on Klonopin?

Hi suzi65, just noticed your question. I've been on lexapro now for 10 weeks. I just went up in dosage 5 days ago. I stopped the klonopin about 1 month ago. I was not getting any help from it. I have taken both these drugs in the past and they worked well. I'm struggling this time with getting the relief to function.

Hope you are doing ok.

Hi polly1221, hang in there. I too was on 15mg Lexapro when I weaned off long time Benzos. Give your brain time to heal from the Klonopin. After all the chemicals were providing what your brain needed at the time. It takes a little time for the brain to realize it is on it's own in manufacturing the chemical balance. This is where a lot of people make the mistake by going back on a benzo. The Lexapro has carried me through very well and is the only medication I take for anxiety.

More than about medicine, it's about finding that method of balance that will work for you in whatever you should choose. For me, once I accepted anxiety as harmless, I turned to meditation and deep breathing which has basically replaced and done a better job than any benzo on the market.

So my best to you polly, we are here to support you as you are getting near your goal. x

I can't sleep either. Wake up at 2 am and just lay there feeling nauseous and stomach burning. No desire to eat. Have to force myself to eat a little something every day. Lost 22lbs and look so skinny. It's scary. I was in a bad place monday. Hard to keep going on like this sometimes.

Oh yes. I totally sympathize. My stomach feels tense, achy and nauseous. Not every morning, but some mornings. It seems if i get four hours of straight sleep, I don;t have so much stomach problems, but less than that .... no good

I am so tired of this. I have thought about giving up, but my friend keeps me going.

Don't ever give up! This shall pass and we will be well again! You have to keep yourself going, no one can do this for us. ❤️❤️

I just need that reassurance once in a while. I sometimes feel like my family has abandoned me.

But it seems we just keep trudging ahead.

Thanks!

Hope you get thru od,

Polly

I had an hour of sleep. Nauseous all night and can't eat. Stomach hurts especially if I eat something. This is very scary, especially living alone.

My wife gets anxiety just before bed time every day. I'm trying to get her off clonozepam medication onto Magnesium which is supposed to help with depression and anxiety.
