I also posted this on the depression board because I need all the help I can get (and I have both)

My dog is going blind. She has cataracts, I got her the surgery but now it has gone wrong and she has glaucoma in one eye. We go back to the vet tomorrow morning and she may go blind again or need to have her eye removed. She is my everything and I need the best for her. I'm pleading for all the good wishes I can get please. I am of the Christian faith and I would appreciate that, but I'm also asking for prayers and good wishes from any and all. Please, just think of her (Maile) and wish her well in whatever way has meaning for you. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for listening.

Sending the very best wishes but you know, your love for her will be all she needs and wants. don't underestimate how important you are to her and that you are her everything too good luck at the vets!

I had wonderful Bichon boy Mojo with exactly same issue

He was 15 and was 'put to sleep' six years ago

He was my first ever dog

I still love him and miss him very much every day

And wonder still if I made the right decision ,one that my vet advised

I'll pray for Maile and you too

She is such a sweet looking,beautiful furry being

She must have a wonderful life with you

A very lucky little girl

Ps Mojo also had an eye infection that did not clear with treatment

Dogs cope well with blindness..my Puli went blind and she was fine

She could also recover well from eye op and be good with one eye

Mojos' situation was bit different as he had added infection

I would continue to pray for healing and give thanks as though it is already done/completed

My Maine Coon was healed after I wrote online to Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary in Shere,Surrey Uk

Update: i truly appreciate your good wishes. Maile ended up having both eyes removed which was much worse than we expected but we are coping. Thank you all.

I just joined this group and saw your post. I apologize for the late post! How is your sweet baby? I'm a huge animal lover and without my 2 sweet girls... I don't know that I would have gotten through half of what I have. You and your sweet girl are in my prayers and will continue to be.

Thank you Lauren! Everyone has been really kind. As you may have saw in my update we ended up having her eyes removed. I had so much anxiety and depression, and you would not imagine the amount of care that it took every couple hours, I ended up being on stress leave for 5 weeks. I am back to work and the getting through the guilt of putting her through this. Spent $4,000 that I didn't have to try to give her a better life and I just ruined her. She is out of pain now and her anxiety is subsiding, I have stopped giving her daily nerve pills, and she is managing better every day and finding her way around. She's not like before but she's OK and I'm doing my best to make her happy. I appreciate your prayers.

@Hi kinikia95 , I'm so sorry to hear of poor Maile. What a sweetheart. Bless her.. I hope you will keep us posted how she's doing. I have seen quite a few videos of blind cats, that manage really well. You still have your baby and together you will work it out. That's what counts. Youre a really good person. I just gave her a hug and a kiss and I told her it was from you😀 I've never been good with training and there aren't as many resources for blind dogs as I would expect there would be but I need to work harder. She is still quite anxious and I know that my anxiety and mood do not help. We're getting there. I'm truly overwhelmed by the kindness that has been shown to us; this is a great group and I'm grateful.
