You know, I really should have asked this question sooner..!

It looks like there might be light at the end of this tunnel. I've made a number of posts recently about my worries to do with pepsin in my throat, LPR and other GI/ENT problems I've been having for the last few months. While none of these have gone away, I suppose I should count my blessings that they aren't getting worse either, and at least some things like my headaches, ear 'liquid' and palpitations HAVE gone. This is where I'll need your help once again though. Thank you for everything you've done so far, but this is very important! Just to remind my readers, here's what I'm suffering with:

- Mucus and throat clearing, nothing that affects my voice though, I can even sing no problem. (well... I can speak in tune XD)

- Burning throat sensation usually after drinking ANYTHING. It is accompanied by gas and the feeling gas is moving up my throat.

- "Hunger" feeling sometimes, isn't that indigestion?

- Short of breath after burping; I try not to burp because it feels weird and tastes like the last thing I ate.

- Occasional tight throat/chest.

I don't get things like heartburn that are symptomatic of GERD, nor do I get hoarsness and coughing fits that correlate with LPR. And yet pepsin was found in my throat... I've noticed it can improve a little while I do volunteer work, unless I remember the symptoms or have a lot to drink. I've also noticed that PPIs, H2 Blockers, O-T-C drugs, Gaviscon Advance, natural remedies and lifestyle changes do nothing. Even the famous Dr Jamie Koufmann's reflux diet hasn't helped me - currently I subsist on wholemeal-everything, oatmeal, fish, rice and veg pretty much and haven't had coffee, tomatoes, citrus or chocolate in months*, so it has lead me to wonder something very important.

I was wondering if anxiety could be the cause of that, and if it is, if there is any proof of it? Furthermore I was wondering how long this will take to clear up, and if there is any chance of it ever coming back? I understand I'm asking a lot but it would be the most reassuring thing I've heard in a long time if anyone can help me, and would help me begin CBT next week with a clearer, more willing mind. Thank you..!

*If nothing else, this 'illness' has reassured me about my willpower XD

Hi Daxter

I'm not sure what you have got, or if its anxiety based.

However, anxiety can play tricks on us, and make a lot of health anxiety symptoms, actually happen thats for sure.

If we try to fight or run from this it will get stronger, so the CBT should show you how to just let it all happen, and it will go away in its own time, it may come back, but then we just do the same practice and it goes again.

Basically we make our own symptoms, by fighting or running from our own minds, and thats fight or flight. If we dont add to that, it has no fire to keep going and it dies down. When we get this off pat, its a really great feeling, I know I just laughed as I had realised i'd been winding myself up all the time.

Wishing you well with the CBT
