I've been on here before but with a different account. I have been struggling with depression, anxiety, self harm, suicidal idealizations and attempts. I've been addicted to vaping for months. I've been to the mental hospita, just let me tell you it doesn't help. This year I went to my church for the first time in awhile and they were talking about and asking "Who or what has been occupying the #1 spot in your life?" and "Would you drop everything bad in your life for God?" After that time at church I quit everything just like that. Self-harm and vaping. Gone. My depression and anxiety still linger but I just don't act on those temptations anymore because God doesn't tempt you, the devil does. God would never tempt you with anything you can't get out of. I've relapsed a few times but relapse is apart of growing from that addiction. I hope you all know, it gets better. And I mean it. Don't give up ever. I got out, so can you.

That’s great to hear. Jesus is the answer , He is real. I too have suffered with these issues but Jesus makes the difference. Just dedicate your life to serving Him. Instead of worrying ..prayer.

Why all the big G mentions in every comment this aint a conversion site.

Or a religious site

It's also not an atheist-only site. If talking about God helps people to not take their own lives, please don't try to silence them.

refer to the guidelines.

equality can only mean no over the top posts or comments about ANY religion this is clearly OTT.

The person only said it had helped them. Just like people recommend self help books and tapping. The person wasn't preaching. If there is something in a post you don't like or agreewith, just ignore it. I'm sure the moderators wouldn't have allowed it if they thought it wasn't ok.

Wolfmuffin is who i'm responding too not justaperson it's not allowed simple as that.

These are the guidelines. There is a difference in saying I found Buddhism a path to my recovery then saying you all must follow Buddhism to heal. It's all in the presentation.

Just thought I would put this up. If you would like to see more in depth guidelines you can refer to the About section

On the flip side of this, I am very glad people have found their way to healing.

It's sad that people can't share what has helped them without being criticised. It may help some people. I think there may be lots of us on here who have found help and comfort that way.

There is a big difference between stating that god has helped you in your mental health struggles which is fine, to telling everyone else to believe and he will help them too.

This crosses the line to preaching which is not allowed on here. Here everyone is welcome from believers to atheists and anything in between.

There are many sites which are Christian based so maybe one of these would be more suitable for those who wish to preach and try and convert others.

This site isn't it.

I didn't think that person was preaching at all. They were just saying what had helped them. It's wonderful to have someone come on this site with positive news regarding their mental health. We should all be glad for that person.

I'm sorry as I didn't make it clear. My response was to WolfMuffin and not the poster. This did cross the line.

I am always very glad when someone finds something which helps them of course. This is the whole point of the site.

I am glad you feel the same way. Take care.

Thank you. I'm ashamed that I wasn't more understanding of the people who felt the post crossed the line. And I can see that some people would take it that they were being preached at. We're a funny lot - some people swear the glass is half full, and others are adamant it's half empty! Vive la difference! (Excuse my attempt at French)!

I'm so pleased for you. Like you, faith has (and does) help me. I put my partial recovery from mental health and addictions to lots of things - good psychiatrists and counsellors, kind people in general - and awareness over the passage of time. We're always learning , we'll never know it all. But my faith keeps me going through the bad times. PLEASE be kind to each other.

this is not to praise or denounce anything but I have to say, I was a firm believer at one time. After so many “disappointments “ in my life the last one being the loss of my two grandsons, I have shut the door on that part if my life. I am saying this now because that is one of my struggles with depression. I am just saying sometimes “G” is part of our mental illness. Now if someone comes in and is trying to preach and convert then I would have a problem with it. Just saying…

Whatever!!!!

Does anything else truly matter ?

You sound like where I was and I could care less where my relief came from

I too am a believer that he can be huge in our recovery, Not everyone, that’s for sure, but like I said “ Whatever it takes”

We are all so darn happy for you. To escape the absolutely awfully clutches of your symptoms is reason enough for all of us to celebrate like it’s New Year’s Eve🎉🎊🎉🎊🎊
