brain scan

I have bipolar disorder and general anxiety disorder.

I have been doing things super weird. I am not talking about just losing my keys and regular things like that.

I have walked around my house with the dog in my arms while looking for her at the same time , getting out of the school while it’s still running and having it dragging me, migraines and last year I had hallucinations once where I saw half a surf board and then a bright happy clout over my head. Not in the mirror but I can just see it over my head.

Does anyone think I should have a brain scan?

What you're describing does not correspond, in my mind, with the diagnoses you mentioned. Have you spoken with your doctor about these things?

Hi Cashew, it’s not just that it’s also bipolar symptoms and anxiety disorder that goes along with the weird things. Sorry I left that out.

did you get my reply? These threads are set up weird.

Hi 82467

I’m bipolar and looked into a brain scan but for a multitude of reasons I didn’t proceed..

I would agree with Cashew about maybe better defining your diagnosis first, if you haven’t. Then what solutions have been tried and what answers are next to try.

That way, if you do decide to try another avenue. It is grounded in solid in good problem solving principles.

My apologies if you have done all that but I believe there is a pretty precise pattern to problem solving

Please feel free to share more about you

Much love

Craig

Craig, this doesn’t make since to me . I be been diagnosed with BP and had for years. I f I m having more and different ahead and bhavorial symptoms why wouldn’t I get a brain scan just to be sure there is not any tumor or closed head injury.

Obviously, if it makes sense to eliminate something then by all means get that brain scan. I was never advocating for you that you shouldn’t. All I was saying was it’s my best opinion that if I would’ve had a group like this to say what I’ve tried , what I haven’t and what I’ve done in every aspect then maybe people would’ve seen some other possible things I should’ve done, maybe including a brain scan who knows

I’m 67 years old and have been bipolar afflicted since I was 25 and for much of it I was pretty clueless though. I’ve been highly successful at most everything I’ve tried to accomplish , but this world of mental health, was totally alluding me , so all I was referencing to is here to hear all sides of what is possible diagnosis and solutions .

Maybe think about using all of us to be a sounding board to get you the answers you might need. I didn’t find them until a year and a half ago. Sure wish I would’ve found a group like this along time ago and shared everything.

Not for everyone but when you’re hurtin real bad and desperate. Relief was all that matters. In whatever way it comes

I guess you could just call me clueless Craig

All the best in your search

One of the most infuriating things to me about the medical and health fields is companies and doctors driven by the drive for profit to the extent that they give grossly distorted medical advice. Maybe you are one of the 40+ million people that watched Daniel Amen 's Tedx Talk titled "The most important lessons from 83,000 brain scans." Well, I will tell you my own summary, don't listen to a doctor that has gotten rich and famous off of convincing patients to do expensive brain scans by grossly overselling their benefits. Sadly, the State of California failed in the proceeding to strip Amen of his medical license early in his career. I definitely think you should talk to your primary care doctor about your problems and request a referral for a neurologist. Brains scans can be helpful, although I have done several that had a expensive copays and found nothing but whether or not it would be helpful I your case, I encourage you to seek the guidance of a skilled brain doctor, because anyways they would be the one viewing and trying to interpret the brain scan anyways. I am not smart and I am definitely not a brain scientist, but as someone who has spent several hours trying and failing to understand anything from looking at expensive scans of my failing brain, I encourage you not to get too excited about paying for brain pictures.

I was looking at Dr Amen but didn’t feel comfortable enough. Have you heard of Gene Sight? I was just told about ut
