So, I've had a demanding physical life, mainly in the building trades, I've been diagnosed with arthritis in both shoulders and now my back is giving up, and hip is giving me problems, so after telling the various jobs I've done I told him that I used to do " hod" carrying now I suppose age was against the young man I attended, however I tried to explain what this involves, he just gave me a blank look and I said have you ever heard of this work, no was his reply, I just felt that he didn't understand the working of the building trade and I told him to Google it!I'm unsure how many of these younger physiotherapists can grasp how hard manual work is, they sit in warm offices typing away on a keypad, still wet behind the ears and telling you that you need to do exercise 🙄 obviously I'm not a youngster anymore (60) and the body is getting worn out.
I don't want to be forced into something, I had enough orders being barked at me in the armed forces, yes I know perhaps I'm being a bit harsh on him, but understanding how people feel and knowing the background rather than just producing a printed leaflet off could help those giving exercises help them understand, you can lead a horse to water but can't make them drink it🤷♂️
