I'm not able to provide some good advice that will ensure you will find a good therapist every time you need one. But what I've done for years is meet with any therapist that my health insurance pays for and give them a chance. Thankfully, I've had very good therapists many times in the past. Recently, though, I've cancelled treatments with three therapists because I felt that I was wasting my time. If I'm not getting help for my needs with one, I have to cancel my treatment and look for someone else. Level of education has not always meant that a therapist is able to help me. I need treatment for a real illness, and that's what I focus on getting when I meet with therapists.
