My son was recently diagnosed Type 2 diabetic, and today neither of us can get our heads around what needs doing .
Stuff has gone wrong big time, enough to really set us both on edge. For instance, he ordered Test strips online which should have been here yesterday. Royal MailTracking showed It has gone to Docklands in the middle of London! (that's 300 miles in the wrong direction and he has very few left with which to blood test!). So much for Post Codes being infallible! 😡 Can't even call them till tomorrow!😟
It doesn't help that Daylight Savings Time ended last night, so I'm all out with my timings.
Even my online shopping was incorrect today, stuff we don't need as it's not low carb.
Trying to think of stuff to cook and prepare for him today, the weather is atrocious, which doesn't help me as I'm weather affected. Jumpy as a cat on a Hedgehog carpet!🥴
Trying to get my Halloween stuff unpacked and ready for display, but if I put it out it will be blown all over the village! The winds are so strong here we call the house Whistlin' Ridge!
I haven't even started on the bags of candy I give out! Or really even thinking of the display! I'm just hoping my Tiki Stick lights charge up in time!
Cheers, Midori

Oh dear, so sorry to hear this. I’m thinking transport is near impossible for you, so I was wondering if you have any neighbour's with cars that might get you the strips tomorrow from a pharmacy when you explain your plight. Let us Hope tomorrow will be a better day for you both. 🌻
Sorry to read about your son Midori. He should be able to get the testing strips prescribed from the GP. Sounds like one of those days for you so I hope everything gets sorted soon. Good luck with your Halloween. Weather foul here too, which doesn't help does it.
He's brand new to diabetes, and panicking over what he can and can't eat. Trying to cut out carbs completely. Driving me to distraction. He is overtesting right now.
The parcel of test strips turned up Tuesday. thank goodness. He's not due up for another appointment with the Diabetes Nurse for a couple of months. What he needs is someone to give him a right telling off and tell him to stop winding himself up over it, because he won't listen to me!
I know what you mean when you say there are days when nothing ever seems to go right - I am sure things will improve soon x
What are Tiki stick lights please and where do you get them from? Last year I got glosticks for the grandchildren but they are expensive and don’t last long - something rechargeable sounds much better!
Their actual name is Solar Powered Stick Light, and they flicker like a real flame. Whether you can still get them is moot as I got mine from Wilko, but they aren't cheap, £12 each.
Thanks Midori . I was thinking of something the grandkiddies could wave about but guess these wouldn’t really be suitable and would probably end up being used in swordfights. Think I’ll just get some more Glo-sticks…
