Failed tooth extraction

hi all

From my last post I was going too have my tooth taken out on Friday.

We tried twice it was so traumatic we decided too stop and now am being referred too a dental hospital too be put asleep.

I feel stupid for not having it pulled out but I was really bad .

I was numb they used a lot of anaesthetic, but I’m hypersensitive and for me I couldn’t continue.

MY dentist as I have explained is fantastic but she knew and could see herself this wasn’t right .

I have an infection again and am on antibiotics and am scared I’ll get another one because I know I’ll be waiting a while until this is done but I can not go through that again .

pleSe note I’m in the UK so be kind I know it’s not great having a bad tooth but I can not go through that again I’m still upset about it all now

Natz36, I can certainly understand the fear that some get in even the

mention of a dentist. Having a tooth extracted can be overwhelming.

I'm in the U.S. but anytime an extraction was mentioned, I went to an

Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon. It can be done either in the office or hospital.

That's all they do is surgery and so are well tuned into the patient's comfort

as well as fears. Less than 5 minutes a tooth can be removed because of their

experience. Keep us updated please. Take care of that infection first. It's going

to be okay. You will be in good hands in the hospital if need be. :) xx

It was traumatic for me I was screaming and scared so much .

Felt faint and lightheaded I can’t go through that again unfortunately

I'm sorry Natz for your experience. Our emotions are so over powering that

sometimes we need that extra help of sedation. Kudos for you trying it.

Nothing to be ashamed of, we all have our breaking point. Sounds like you

have a great, compassionate dentist. Good Luck next time around. It will

be okay. :) xx

she will do me a great referral. I broke down and told her everything. She was so understanding, she’s also writing too my doctor as I told her I sometimes don’t want to be alive. There’s just no help where I live , the system is broken 😞

OMG that’s horrible. I hope you feel better soon. Sending you hugs and lifting you in prayer. Hang in there.

I'm so sorry. I totally relate to this as I am hard to anesthetize too - one time they had to give me 5 shots of novocaine before I was numb! It's awful. I hope all goes smoothly for you at the dental hospital.

It can be hard to get some people numb, especially redheads. They metabolize anesthetics differently. You might look into hypnosis for anxiety and pain control. It's been used in dentistry for many years with great results. An oral surgeon can also do deep sedation, as people noted.
