One year “No contact” with entire family.

I went no contact last year around this time. The memories will not stop. Im okay for 3 days and then I’m down for 4 days to where I don’t want to function. I wake up in as if I've done something horrible. Anxiety is beyond benzo’s sometimes they simply don’t work until I take more and it just makes me sleep. I feel I’m losing at this battle. The light is leaving me and I feel completely lost. I’ve tried everything.

You might want to check out this facebook group: Estranged & Thriving; Support for Adult Children. It's for people who are no contact with their family and seems to be very supportive. It's definitely not easy to be no contact, there is so much societal, social and cultural conditioning to have a harmonious family relationship that makes it so difficult for those of us who don't have it. I think the reality is that it's much more common to not have good familial relations than society acknowledges.

You definitely aren't alone on this one . I've been estranged from my family for about 5 years. My situation may be much different than yours, in the sense where I was dealing with narcissistic personalities. I am the blacksheep. Had gone through Cinderella syndrome for many years. It took me a while to realize how toxic my family was. It can be taunting or reflective depending on how you view it. Seeing as how you take meds. Maybe focusing on yourself and doing things that make you happy would distract you from the feelings that arise. Thank you for sharing ❤️ hope you reach out if you feel off. Just know you have a world of people who would listen and allow you to express yourself.

I would go back to your Doctor, say you aren't coping and ask for further help.. You shouldn't have to go through intense loneliness alone.

Talk to us; Many of us have gone though similar problems and could possibly help you. We are a supportive bunch, and we all have experience of depression, etc.

Cheers, Midori
