Books on stress

My brother in law told me he doesn’t stress at all, he is a professor at a small university. I am an IT security worker and I stress constantly. Is there any books or good resources that I could try to help to learn how to not stress, thanks!!

I don’t have any books but you are in like the most stressful job behind production database admin! No wonder you are stressed! Do you have an outlet such as exercise, yoga, meditation? Art?

Thanks I started weight lifting, and some walking and yoga. Need to make time for meditations

Walking and yoga work well as moving meditations. Especially if you are like me and many other IT and have a hard time quieting your mind.

yeah that is a good point. Yeah constantly thinking about work, etc

Sounds like your BIL is on drugs or lying. What is his field of study?

I would expect an IT security worker to experience stress. I’m guessing you have to anticipate stressful events and prevent them. If you were chill all the time, you couldn’t do your job.

Thanks I like the idea of him lying and everyone has stress

Thank you

Books are only good if you implement what's in them. May I offer some practical ideas that have worked for me instead? Stress affects body, mind and soul, so all three have to be addressed. For the body, some form of physical movement-yoga, walking, bicycling, jogging, or something more vigorous if you're already somewhat athletic. Make it consistent. I like to walk early in the morning. For the mind, try journaling. It lets you release those pent-up emotions, say exactly what you think and feel without judgment. You can also go the other way and try gratitude journaling, listing things about the day you are thankful for, made you smile, etc. Lastly, the soul. This may be practicing a faith, some form of meditation, etc. Combine these three daily and you will start fortifying yourself to feel less stress. Prayers for wisdom and guidance to find a routine that works for you.

Hidden thisBook set me up to implement the major mindset shifts that allowed me to laugh at misfortune and duress I face. Does a great job of giving real perspective to everything.
