Lately my sleep has been all over the place. I will sleep less than 6 hours or can sleep 10 plus hours yet I find myself waking up feeling extremely exhausted. When I sleep long hours I consistently wake up multiple times throughout the night and can’t seem to shut my mind off. I also find falling asleep to be so difficult. When I feel bad all I want to do is sleep because it’s the only way to stop the worry and the negative thoughts yet I can’t even do that. What do you guys do when you feel you don’t have any energy? I have been trying to find relaxing activities to keep occupied so I’m not fixated on what I feel but so far have not found anything.. any recommendations?

No energy
Your experience with sleep is mine as well. I either over or under sleep, with all the emotional caveats as well. I feel exhausted in either case.
I like to watch shows and listen to music. It can keep me distracted enough to not let my mind race. Every since I was a kid, I had something playing in the background while I slept. I can't stand the silence. I don't find it relaxing. As I start to pass out i lower the volume of whatever is on so that i can still hear it, but barely, sort of like white noise. Unlike white noise, if I'm struggling to fall asleep I can pay attention to the music/show. You can't do that with actual white noise.
I have tried watching t.v and I can for the most part, but sometime I am just so drained I am unable to actually keep up and pay attention to what is going on, thanks for the input!
Sometimes starting something new can be so engaging that you won't sleep because you want to keep watching! I'm one of those people who can rewatch an episode or movie several times. When I'm first trying to relax I'll rewatch a show or movie I like that I have only seen 1 or twice, or that I haven't watched in a long time. Seeing it again can feel fresh. When I start to get drowsy I put on something that wont keep me so engaged, but is cute or fun to passively hear in the background. An example would be the anime Avatar the Last airbender, or the star trek series.
Things like NCIS, Lie to me, or House can be good because many of their first seasons don't require you to focus on them continually episode to episode. They follow a specific formula that is predictable, and the episodes can be watched out of order because they aren't serialised just yet. They can be watched without any context. Kid shows are good as well because the dont require your full concentration. The Simpsons are great to put on.
I take melatonin and watch something light and comforting and it puts me out
Thank you for the input. I take something to help me sleep yet still have been sleeping terrible so throughout the day I find myself utterly drained
