Pandemic Positivity : trying at least.

It has been a long time since I’ve written on here but with everything going on I thought I’d share my personal experience on how Covid-19 is affecting the world around me.

First and foremost,

I have a compromised immune system and asthma. Which puts me at a higher risk.

I work at Whole Foods as a Prime Shopper completing online orders which means a lot of lifting walking etc.

The weather where I live has been up and down so drastically that my lungs are basically panicking every day trying to figure out what’s going on.

Because of this, I declared self quarantine to keep myself safe as the case count in my state ( New Hampshire) just went up.

My boyfriend who I’ve spoken of before was due to come home yesterday on a week long leave. We say eachother for two weeks during Christmas which was the first time in 6 months we had seen one another.

The Department of Defense put a travel ban on all military personnel meaning he couldn’t come home. The ban went into play a week before his flight home.

I was so disappointed and heart broken but understood the importance of the choice was to protect as many people as possible by not allowing travel.

After all, he’d be coming from a base with confirmed cases and I’d be in a dangerous position.

I was the only one leaving the house on a near daily basis to work and to bring home things for my family. The only other person who has left is my dad when I was at work and things were needed before I came home.

My younger siblings are all being home schooled along with my moms friends son and her ex husband’s girlfriends son.

They are doing online courses as well as learning to bake, cook , sew, iron, do laundry, etc.

They also ordered butterfly kits to watch metamorphosis.

The reason she is allowed over is because she had cancer when she was younger so her immune system is also compromised.

Any time I come home from work I have been having all doors opened for me , clothes off into a plastic bag and straight to the wash, into the shower, full hair/ body wash and scrub down and even washing my hands after the shower.

We all wash our hands before and after all meals , after getting ice , after getting a snack, etc.

At work I’d wash my hands after clocking in , use hand sanitizer , then put a pair of gloves on. After I complete a order, I put a new pair of gloves on.

This is such a interesting time in the world that I will tell my children about one day and I’m hopeful the ending to this story is that the world paused , and realized what how it needed to change.

How we needed more kindness, generosity and mindfulness. How Mother Nature was able to slow heal the wounds we placed on her. And that we pulled together and united no matter what our beliefs were to create a better future for humanity.

Mother Nature had enough and she bit back. And she bit back a lot harder than we were ready for.

A huge positive I see from what we are going through are families spending more time together.

I like to walk at the park. Yesterday I saw moms and dads and kids out together. I couldn't help thinking about what they would be doing if things were " normal"

This is an opportunity to enjoy things that we couldn't find time for when living our hectic lives.

Of course we need to follow all guidelines because they are put into place to help us all.

Life is a gift.
