I Understand Now

Feb 20 2020

When you see a shopping cart in the middle of a parking space :

Think maybe it was a mom trying to rush home with her crying baby

Think maybe she managed to overcome her anxiety and exit the house to get the basic grocery needs

Think that she carried the diaper bag, the car seat, the baby, and the groceries all alone just to get a few things.

Think exiting the house, unloading the car or loading the car took longer than what she needed to shop for

Think that she overcame the stares from the shoppers when her baby fussed and cried and when she took out the WIC checks

Think that that shopping cart is the presence of mother leaving her mark in the world because she had no time or energy to put the cart in its place after being tired or sick or both

Think “ when have I offered to open a door to a mother carrying it all, but carrying nothing at all ?”
