Once again I don’t have a job. I was just

Let go from my Temp job. I knew it wasn’t going well and had a feeling I was going to be let go. So I didn’t find another job before I was let go and I’m unemployed again. I worry a lot it’s my age (54), and I’m probably just not That smart. So I’m tired and I wish I was smart and most of all I wish I had a job.

I feel for you - I'm 48 and struggling to find work. Best thing to do is pick up any skills you can and dont give up!

Unfortunately there isn’t a lot of free skills out there and the state I live in the unemployment is horrible and the don’t give out many grants for classes. I have to be unemployed for couple of months before they take it seriously, and I don’t have that long. 😕

there are quite a few online learning platforms that offer great courses for free. This is my favourite: alison.com/

Good luck - I wish you well!

Jovra, the office through which you apply for unemployment compensation in your state probably has a jobs help program. Some of these offices have special programs for older workers. My friend just went through this. Good luck.

Thank you! I am to meet with someone next week at my county’s career source, so hopefully something good will happen.

I too haven’t worked for a long time and my skills are out of date. Good luck with your meet with the county career source person. We need all the help we can get. It is not always about being smart. Sometimes when you show dedication, work ethic and that you really care for what you are doing, you can get a big break. There are lots of stories of people’s hard work getting noticed and rewarded. Good luck, Jovra.

Thank you. It is very hard to prove that age isn’t everything but work Eric and the ability to do a good job. I just wish more peopl would see it that way.
