My Psychiatrist has recommended trying Medical marijuana for my severe anxiety and panic attacks. I am a little scared to try this. Has anyone had experience with this and can you still use your antidepressant with it?

Medical Marijuana
Yes it should be fine with your antidepressants, especially if your psychiatrist has recommended this. I would say to use caution of anything with a high THC content and avoid pure sativa strains. There are CBD strains that have a little bit of both CBD and THC this is where I would start ( there’s normally a online inventory for local dispensaries, check to see whats available to find where to go). There will be a little bit of trial and error finding what works best for you, any drug effects everyone differently.
Thanks. I have tried CBD oil. Problem is you can not use it and xanax together and my anxiety and panic attacks have been so bad I need the quick action of the xanax. So CBD has been put on hold.
Okay, that makes sense. then i would look toward, an Indica leaning strain with a medium to low THC level, if you decide to try it. Indicas have a more relaxing effect. And sativas are more energetic, the problem with sativas is sometimes the more energetic feeling can push your anxiety. So I’d be cautious, but the right strain can help sometimes. It would be simple with more medical research, but theres not a lot of research to go off of at the time being.
I smoke and it helps me a lot. I have issues sleeping too and it helps me have a restful sleep.
It helps me sleep but that depends on the person the results may vary
Thank you for all the comments.
I took CBD oil on 13th April this year and it made me suicidal I had no appetite for a week I am still not over it
You shouldn't take it with SSRI antidepressants as you could get serotonin syndrome
If your doctor is the same one prescribing your SSRI's, then they must know if there would be an interaction, but always double check for yourself and ask them. Also....you don't have to smoke it....and you can ask for a low dose of THC and ask if they have a more CBD oil version availible with little to now high associated with medical marijuana. Also.....as I don't think pot is addictive...if you have an addictive personality, anything can become a compulsion, so that would also be something you would want to be aware of and discuss with your doctor. Otherwise...I do belive it can help, but I'm an herbalist, and not a doctor.
