Need practical advice on medical issues!

The sad truth is doctors have not been helpful. My health has just continued to deteriorate. By circumstance, life had put me in a stage where I had no health insurance for a long period and went through many life changing events. I kept on adding symptoms to my mental list of things needing a doctor.

Now when I have insurance, the doctor does not address all my issues. He said to my face: Tell me one thing you are here for today! And when I said I am here for all my problems of course because all of those come in my way to live a normal life. To which he replied, sorry this is not how it works. And literally shut me down. This is the 3rd doctor who has done this. I asked if I could write an email to him or his staff, he refused.

He just ordered a blood work and sent me home saying you have anxiety.

Meanwhile, I continue to lose weight. Extreme fatigue and pain in bones. Well list is pretty long. I never get to tell a single doctor all of the anomalies I am facing on a regular basis. My point is, how is a doctor going to diagnose without even knowing all that's been going on. I have to pay for every visit. I seriously feel robbed of my money without getting proper attention.

During all this time, I have yet to show my anger and frustration that has built up to any of the medical staff I have encountered. But I am sure, even if I tried fighting for my right, it would only mean more difficulty in getting treatment. At this point, I am ready to give up on doctors. But what about my extremely bad health?

Hi BlueSKy125,

The doctor said they are going to the regular bloodwork. He did not specify what they will be looking for, and he did not allow me to suggest anything. Results are not in yet.

Although I did have blood tests in and around mid 2019. At that time I was in another State. They said it was okay, just some Vitamin D deficiency. They later did a breath test and just said they found some traces of bacteria. No meds were prescribed.

Vitamin D deficiency has both bone pain and fatigue as symptoms. How is your diet in general and do you get outside in the sun everyday?

Unfortunately, I do not go outside in sun everyday. I have extreme social anxiety. I tend to subconsciously cough, clear throat or sniff (deviated septum, asthma, post nasal drip, acid reflux). All these symptoms have not gotten better with loss of weight. But got worse. Other social anxiety factors, Hyper-hydrosis, halitosis, tremoring hands.

A regular visit to nearest grocery store for about an hour, and I cannot go anywhere else but back home, as I have perspired through.

In last 2 years I have lost 70+ lbs. (Most of it without doing any exercise, just slowly vanishing) I was 250 lbs in 2018, when I started changing my diet and starting working out gradually. I came down to about 230 lbs. and that is when I started having problems. Some chronic problems became worse. Some new symptoms arised.

Since then I have regularly and slowly kept losing weight. Even though I started eating junk food in between. I am currently bouncing between 170-175lbs. Appetite is pretty bad. During all of this deteriorating health, I was in a temporary living state in a new country with family (Brother and our divorced mother lives with him), and the self-destruct-like effect following the demise of my youngest brother played it's part in my declining health.

Do you mind telling me some of your health problems? Not that I’m a dr but I have had sooo many instances with them and in 1 hand can tell you that’s all the good ones I found. I’ve also had drs tell me they were only going to address one thing. Or another time I had one say that’s not what I’ve scheduled with the receptionist.

If you have insurance why are you paying for every visit?

I would like to talk to you more about this if you don’t mind

Hi brokenankle75, sorry for the late reply. I don't mind sharing health problems. We can discuss in Chat. I am currently in the process of onboarding to a part time work opportunity. And will be busy till tomorrow. It is really hard for me to stick to one task and complete it these days. Have to submit some Pre-work before tomorrow morning.

I got my insurance in special enrollment period, and I did not have much choice. (I went with the suggestions of the Rep over the phone who got me enrolled into this insurance plan)

I have to do co-payments for each visit or procedure ($50 Primary, $90 Specialist and for every procedure)

Just an upper endoscopy cost me a co-pay of $1000. I feel robbed.

I will message you here soon to see when we can talk. Lots of things to do.

Geese that really sucks. Who do you get you insurance through

It's through Oscar Insurance. And I am sure there are issues that providers have with Oscar, as I have literally felt a change in approach and tone/demeanor of medical staff upon being told I am through Oscar Insurance.
