Medical Marijuana and Anxiety

Just want to say... I was prescribed medical marijuana by a doctor for my anxiety. I've been smoking the marijuana for three or four days now. I was in a group setting the other day... a sort of mental health support group. There were twelve people in the group including myself. This sort of situation would definitely raise my anxiety level normally and give me a panic attack. I smoked before the group and during the group I could not have been any more calm. It was basically no different than if I were sitting at home by myself.

Sometimes sitting at home by myself can be triggering but if I feel the slightest bit triggered, I take a puff of my "vaporizer." It makes a world of difference. I don't want to speak too soon -- again, it's only been 3-4 days, but it's almost like my anxiety is a non-issue now. I just don't feel anxious ever.

Has anyone else tried medical marijuana? Has anyone else had success? Has anyone found it not helpful?

This is so interesting. I'm glad you felt calm during the meeting. I personally haven't tried medical marijuana but I did travel to Peru last year and participate in plant medicine ceremonies. That worked wonders for me for weeks afterwards. Unfortunately something traumatic happened this year that made my nervous system go out of whack again. I do think plant medicines (marijuana included) are promising. Taken legally and under the right conditions/supervision, of course.

Thanks for sharing blimpsgo180 . I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that the prescribed med continues to work for you!

Thanks Anxious_gal. Maybe I should post back after it's been a couple weeks. That sounds like a really cool ceremony you went to in Peru.

Hi that’s great news! I’ve tried it but sometimes it gets me paranoid so I decided to stay away from it. This reminds me I have a friend who just got his license to use ketamine therapy on patients with ptsd.

I am diagnosed as schizophrenic. I used to smoke marijuana all the time. It made me very paranoid. I don't think it affects everybody the same, but it made my schizophrenia much worse. All this being said, I am much in favor of cannabis being used medically, although I know now it is not for me. I have seen it help many people though, so if it works for you, I say go for it. :)

Yes, but I use gummies, sometimes straight CBD and sometimes 1 to 1. It does help.

I think it is a good option. I'd rather not smoke anything so oil or gummies would be my choice. My friends made me brownies once when I was in a really bad place and it was a good reset. ☮️
