First, I must say thanks for the advice, I was so nervous going in I had to calm myself with deep breathing. Also she had soothing music playing in the background in the waiting room so that helped. I went in not having any expectations at all and she gave me hope and the same feeling all of you give me, that I’m not alone and it’s “normal” feelings. By the end of the session I cried, laughed and it was overall a good experience. It’s safe to say I’ve found someone I’m comfortable with and I’ve already made another appointment.

Update on First Therapist Visit
Hi FindingTree, I'm so glad you had a positive experience and connected with
your therapist. My therapist also has soothing music playing in the background.
It really helps when waiting and using breathing.
With each session, you will feel an array of emotions and that's good.
As you walk out, you will experience a feeling of hope knowing that you
will be going forward and no longer staying stuck. You did good. I'm proud
of you. Namaste my friend xx
That's so great! It's not easy to find someone you can get along with. I'm receiving nothing from my therapist but she thinks she's doing a good job and I don't want her to give my doctor a negative report because my doctor my increase my medication. I don't like walking on eggshells but I don't know what else to do right now. You're fortunate you found one you can relate to.
Things will I spend alot of time at a senior center so I may ask my doctor if I can opt out of therapy or I may find a new doctor and therapist altogether. I don't know yet.
